I'm arriving in SIN on the 24th Dec ~10pm, then flying to KUL ~8pm on the 26th. Back in SIN ~10pm on the 30th Dec and leaving SIN ~8pm on the 1st Jan.

In another thread, both ellein and Evan indicated that they may be around.

So, if anyone is around and wants to catch up for a mini AFF meet, let me know.

Don't know what, don't know when and don't know who, but we should be able to work something out.

(And of course the same applies if anyone is in KUL on the 26th-30th!)

Mal, I won't be around but I promised to get the name of the place with the delicious lamb chops I usually frequent in Geylang.

I hope I have it right but the name of the stall is Song Western Food and is part of San Jiang Eating House on the corner of Geylang Road and Lorong 12. Prices are reasonable with a large Carlsberg, ~640ml, S$5.80 and the lamb chops with fries and coleslaw $6.50.

There is also the Coffeshop on the corner of Geyland Road and Lorong 6 which is a reasonable place to sit down and watch the English football and the world go by. The food is good and the price of a large Carlsberg is S$6.00 and a large Tiger is S$5.50.

Sorry Mal, I am now scheduled to be in Japan and will only have a 1 hr transit on the 5th Jan before going back to MEL for 2 weeks. Was sort of a last minute change of plans for my holidays.
Actually just landed back here about 1.5hrs ago and will fly out again tonight on SQ to ICN then on to KIX for Christmas.

Did head into Geylang to look for this place. Found it without any real issues. They were closed the night I was there though (Dec 25, so perhaps Christmas???), or just turned up much later than I was wanting to be there (staff around told me they normally opened up 6:30pm I think, and I was there quite a bit after that). A few Carlesburg later, a long wander around Gayleng (avoiding the tentacles of the 'massage' ladies and the 'interesting' suggestions from some other ladies), I checked again and then headed back to my hotel.

I couldn't find a stall in the place with a health rating better than 'C' though. Not really a worry, but do prefer my hawker stalls to have a 'B' or 'A'. :)

The 'frog' meal places nearby look interesting though. Will have to try some local versions of Frog's Legs etc.

C is ok, not so keen on anything below that.
I was told that the difference between A and B is what kind of mood the inspector is that day or how busy the shop is, in other words very little. Not sure if that's right or not but makes some sense considering they go all the way to F ?

Pity you didn't get exactly what you were after but atleast found a few interesting things to keep you busy.

I don't often get to Gayleng even though one of our data centres if out there but have been once or twice for the food.
