SQ service reductions during May

It’s complex, if, as many indicate, the thing dissuading travel is the virus, that probably makes the price/demand curve fairly inelastic, so it may be worth airlines just getting what $$$$ they can out of those willing to travel.
That is what Hong Kong hotels are now doing.

The call centre was staffed by robots so I gave up and communicated with someone from SQ via a chatbox. T

I am not sure if the trick works for booking ex-Australia, but the trick commonly suggested on Flyertalk (at least for ex-SIN bookings) is to dial the Singapore number and press 2 for Mandarin. Tends to get you to a call centre with greater competence/freedom (in Singapore, where most speak mandarin and English). Haven't tried it myself though.

Is you booking BNE-SIN on a separate booking? If so, whatever carrier you choose will not take that into account if they change their schedule, you or your insurer take that risk.

I booked SQ business class BNE-SIN-CDG-SIN-BNE. I then booked VA CNS-BNE-CNS to meet the flights so obviously on a separate booking.

The fact remains they had flights SIN-FRA which I was offered but without any flight on to CDG which was shown as available on their website. I was also told I was lucky I wasn't being charged for the change in flights.

Have you accepted anything yet? If not use the HUACA method (either Singapore number or asking @Cruiser Elite he seems to be the expert at getting through the the right contacts) . On FT there is talk that they have been reaccomodating via other ports with a short sector on the LH group airlines. Award bookings may make it trickier though.

Luckily my trip in late May not affected by these.. some were close

SYD-SIN- HK -TPE- SIN- SYD

:O Just checked the seat maps for my flights on EF (in March) and they are only showing Y as being half full. I hope they don't start f-ing with the earlier flights as well!

(sympathies to those whose flights are already messed up)

Noticed reward seat availability in the last month has reduced dramatically

So got a resolution to my booking issue where I was going SYD-SIN-JNB on 1 April. I rang the Velocity international redemption number (as it’s a J award) and told them to fix it. I went in with a plan (to move to the Sunday 29th when the original SQ212/SQ482 all daytime service combo was still offered) and pointed out that we were both platinums.

VA said they could only move us to an award available service. I said no, it’s an involuntary change so only availability of cabin should matter and that as the ticketing agent they had a responsibility for fix it regardless of fare bucket... anyway got a call this afternoon with the desired itinerary ticketed.

Surprised that it worked, especially dealing with the VA call centre.

Gday

My 1805 departure SQ242 flight out of SYD was cancelled and i was moved to SQ222 three hours earlier at 1500. This works for me as im on the A380 however my only issue is the seat selection. I was previously in the mini cabin at the front now im back in row 26 and when i try and manage my booking on the website it wont let me check the cabin seat map availability at all. Is there any way around this other than to call them? The new revised flight which i accepted still has reserved when i log onto the app however there is a ticket number. Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.
Pele.

So far we're OK but our May SIN>SYD flight, the day before and the day after were cancelled.

Nothing we can do but wait and keep checking.

We're flying J but on reward seats so Im nervous. OK with being delayed but want those J seats.

I'm booked in J on SQ 215 (May 31st) and returning a week or so later. Both flights are just after the current scheduled flight changes.

I used points to book them. If the flight is cancelled or I choose to cancel it will all the Kris flyer points be returned?

Thanks

If the flight is cancelled you may be re-accommodated on another flight that same day, but it likely that you would be able to cancel and have Krisflyer points returned in full (provided none of them would have expired in the period). If it is not cancelled, there is a fee of $75USD for redepositing miles if you elect to cancel, unless they declare a cancellation fee waiver like they have for HKG/China flights.

Whilst they don't seem to play ball with BA (difficulty finding any routes they sell with BA sectors), they do sell AF flights on their website (eg SIN-CDG with SQ connecting to CDG-NCE with AF). It can't hurt to ask, in any event. Assuming you are an award ticket that might limit possibilities more than a revenue ticket though.
Yeah it was R redemption booking on the a380 from CDG-SIN. Will give them a call tomorro to see my options.

Thanks for the tip re: AF, worth a try.

On the phone with SQ call centre and managed to swap the 12 May flight to 13 May for the same flight Sq 335. Initially 13 May was all Waitlisted, but call centre operator had to get the ok from higher ups to release the WL seats for 3 pax (have them released to her). I assume, having the flight cancellation would have been the main reason for having WL seats released so fast.

I didn't bother with asking her to check for CDG-LHR-SIN as it would have probably been a painful call and process for her to check. Plus I'm ok with spending an extra day in CDG and 1 less in SIN :)

Call was quick, simple and straight forward.

YMMV

Me too. I'm on J SQ232 Syd-Sin on 2/6. If they cancel one more week, I think they'd cancel 4/6 for that flight number, as looks as like they're cancelling Thursdays for that one. I'm leaving on a Tuesday. Most flight numbers have had one a week cancelled seems. My flight connects with an Air France, who have not cancelled Sin flights at all. Cross fingers.
