Quick Q - If you need to change a flexi fare - and you need to change the origin and destination is it possible to do online?

Looking at a Flexi fare I have purchased online and in manage my booking - change booking - I can change the date but not the route

Well, fares are based on origin and destination, so you would need a new fare if you change that. However, it could remain on the same PNR.

You used to be able to cancel online and it would send you a voucher of the remaining value, then you could rebook anything - but all used the same PNR from memory. It’s been a while since I’ve had to do that.

I assume that is Y? Noobie question, but if for some reason you did need to change the flight ;) , does it need to rebook into Y, or can you book into Q,V etc as long as fare more expensive?
I can guarantee that not one of the BCI-LRE will be taken, they will all be cancelled and rather than take a refund I will turn the fare into a voucher. When you rebook the new fare just needs to be of a higher value. For the routes I travel I will have no issues finding a flight cost than $140.00

If it is a flexi ticket the easiest way I know to change the route is cancel the original booking, you will get the option of creating a voucher or refund. Select voucher and this will appear in your booking list and you can then just rebook using the voucher. The advantage of this is the original PNR remains.

Excellent advice - thank you :)

Is it correct to assume that you will wear the $99 cancelation fee or is there a way of getting that back too?

Your assumption is wrong, the $99 cancelation fee is only applied if you select refund. If you select the voucher option there is no $99 fee and the original fare price remains as a credit.
But then is added to the cost of the rebooked fare I think as a change fee.

A FLEX fare has no change fee me thinks.

The Flex fare has a $99 refund fee - only applicable if you want a refund, not a credit for a new booking.

People are confusing this with the Red e-deal $99 change fee.

  • Re-booking - see 'Booking Changes' above.
    • Ticket value can be used towards a new booking of equal or higher value for travel anywhere on the Qantas network within 12 months of the date that the original ticket was issued. This credit must be used within 12 months of the date the original ticket was issued.
    • Any credit is the Australian dollar price.
  • Refund permitted. A cancellation fee of A$99 per person applies for bookings.

Sorry you are wrong.

In the interests of all I have gone through the process with one of my bookings and captured screen shots as below. I do not profess to an expert but as someone who flys around 130-150 sectors per year mainly QF and OW with SQ and VA being not far behind I am reasonably confident in my understanding of QF fare types and rules . As @justinbrett states above people seem to be getting confused "refund" and "change" fees

This is the evidence.

Go to you booking and select cancel this will pop up will appear, select voucher

Once the voucher is in your QFF account click on it and follow the bouncing ball, I did not get a screenshot

put in new search parameters, my screen shot was to early, I ended up selecting 9 Mar 20.

Now my maths might not be that good but the original credit was $140.71 and the additional charge to my CC was 235.68 (image above) that totals $376.39 which is give or take a few cents is close the expected Itinerary price.

I hope this makes things clearer.

I will now be going back and cancelling this booking and turning it into another voucher for future use.

Yeah. I realized we only book cheapie fares! Thankyou for all that work. :)

Anyone know what the cheapest Flex fare is from Melbourne to anywhere? I want to have a DSC fare up my sleeve for future use :)

Having just spent $1400 to get gold this membership year, it’s so tempting to book another NZ trip for later in the year to maintain. I’m def crazy ;)

Cheers @Matt_01 - it never occured to me to that the departure point for my banker booking can be anywhere and doesn't need to be from Melbourne!

Thanks and much appreciated. I now have a number of flights between BCI-LRE and I had to look up where BCI is.

I flew that route a few years back. If you ever decide to actually take one of those flights, it's about 15 minutes in the air and I'm sure you'll be disappointed that there is no 3-course hot meal service (or any service at all, for that matter as the seatbelt sign is never switched off). :p

Sounds like most AA flights (in more ways than one).

Has anyone experienced delays for international ticketing this weekend? I'm still waiting for a ticket I booked on Friday afternoon. Web chat assures me all is OK but still haven't seen it. I expected a slight delay due to DSC but this seems a bit much.
