Qantas Status Credits Bonus Offers

Is it just me or does anyone here think that doing the Red Planet surveys could also play a teeny-tiny role in triggering SC offers?

In Nov 2019, when I was dying to get an offer to tip into Platinum territory, I distinctly remember doing Red Planet surveys, which, I didn't take seriously, until I did ... And in the next few days a 50% bonus SC landed in my emailbox ... I also, like most, searched extensively for SYD-AKL. But something in me says doing the surveys might have also played a role ....

This year's companion sale: 11/2 to 17/2

Perhaps we will see a DSC offer on the 20th or 21st ..

I know, I am hoping too. I have a EU trip in Biz class to book and I am just sitting back and waiting. That is regaining platinum right there.

I'm sorry but I am finding it pretty amusing (and I mean no offence to anyone in particular) when a sale ends, a new one pops up and "Maybe there'll be one when this sale finishes!"

Good luck to all but I think the DSC ship has sailed for now.

Would not surprise me in the slightest if DSC becomes a perk of top-tier Points Club.. if it ever launches.

That's actually a pretty decent idea. It would be a win/win for QF.

- would stimulate bookings from those who donot fly much (but have disposable income if they spend big)
- probably would not overinflate elite numbers too much if they are coming from a low base.

Not that it helps anyone here wanting DSC who actually fly :) (and if they're big enough spenders to be top of the points club they're probably got enough dosh to not worry too much about attaining status imo).

I didn't mean to seem snippy with my comment above... I just wonder how worth it is to hold off on bookings or things in the hope of an offer that, chances are, won't come when potentially better product (and price) can be found out there in the meantime.

Yeah I hear ya. I'm eyeing a flight at the moment and the price has gone up in the last 4 days because I'm waiting for a bonus SC offer that may not come...

I just received a 50% bonus credit offer (6 days to book with flights through to 20 June). My milestone is 30 June and only need 15 status credits to retain gold. Route I was searching numerous times was SYD-LHR.

I just got one too. Same route as you but only applies to flights until 10 June. I was wondering... if I booked flights for before 10 June (thereby triggering the 50%) but then changed them to after 10 June, would the 50% bonus credits still apply? Anybody try this in the past?

I think you're right on both fronts.

No generic double SC offers. Is there a day in the year without some sort of sale?

Extremely unlikely.

Agree

From memory - for any SC offers that QF releases - the bonus SC won't apply if there is a change to the travel date outside the promotion window. However, one can get bonus SC, if :

1. There is a travel date change and the new date lies within the promo window
2. if there has been a re-route and the pax can claim ORC
3. if there's been a cancellation or a situation beyond the control of the pax or the airline - the airline can issue a credit voucher, which when used within the promo window gives bonus SC

If the credit voucher is used outside of the promo window - no bonus SC

Alternatively, I understand that one would be able to purchase a voucher from QF, which comes with a PNR and if that voucher with that PNR is used to make a booking within the promo window, that'd also qualify for the bonus SC

Happy for someone to cross verify/confirm what I just said :)

Bummer. :( I intentionally triggered a 50% bonus SC offer but I can't take advantage of it because my trip falls outside of the promotion window.

I wouldn't want to risk it changing dates outside of the promotion. Is there anything in the T&C's that mention this?

It is very clear. changing flights to outside of the promotion window will invalidate those flight(s) from the offer. It's pretty cut and dried

I think the evidence presented in this thread is that QF are attempting to get smarter with targeting.

And sorry, but I find it quite ironic to go to the effort to attempt to trigger an offer, have it actually work only to find the offer does not meet with the desired requirements..... It's almost like they knew and a leprachaun is dancing around yelling "Nice try there but it's not going to be that easy for you!"

The post I wrote about triggering offers makes it pretty clear what the travel window will be too. RTFM.
