Vinomofo Wine Deals

Geeze thats a blast from the past that one. I think I bought that from them over 3 years ago. My review is 4 stars...but 3 years ago I was a lot more generous with my scoring, and a lot more naive in what a great wine was.

Still I do remember the price to quality ratio was quite high.
2013 is 12.50 on VM at the moment

Yep I saw that, it's just odd that the same vintage I bought 3+ years ago. 3 Oceans must have just cleared out some old stock because there are a few different wines on there. Past their best? 3 Oceans needing some cash flow? Who knows.

3 years ago the 3Oceans was $1 more a bottle on VM. I had a bottle ~10 days ago and they are drinking very nicely with lots of life left. They benefit from a 3-4 hour decant and gets better as the night progresses. I’m tempted to get another case

PRE-ARRIVAL: Shiraz 2010 - Black Market Deal #31835 $14 (from $35)
Is this likely to be UMAMU Estate?
And if so, has anyone got any comments?
If it's not, any ideas on what it might be?

Yes, probably Umamu, the Halliday and Hooke scores match.

As with so many BM deals they sound intriguing and ripping value but in truth they really know how to "over-egg the pudding", I have learnt the hard way to do due diligence with all their offerings both masked and unmasked...

Doesn’t VM have a 365-day no questions asked return policy?

Has anyone tried the Penley estate special select Shiraz at $15 a bottle? (Ignore the $50 rrp). Wondering to how it would compare to say the Wynn’s Coonawarra Shiraz at $11 a bottle from Dan’s.

I haven't tried that Penley. But I have tried other Penley's and found them to be average to OK. Not worthy of purchasing again.

I would say that the Wynn's is good. I normally pick up a case every year for under $10 a bottle and guarantee it will cellar for 10+ years. I'm currently drinking some 2002's.

The return policy is very good, it's more the nuisance value of making a return and either getting a refund (can be something of a wait) or a store credit which can be instant once notified of collection. I've made a return on quite a few wines over the years with VM but the frustrating thing is when you get a store credit and replace mediocre with mediocre....

Pretty sure you'd be better off with the Wynns. Hard to fault and they cellar well.

Maverick 2016 Shiraz is up...looks like they changed the colour of the screw cap to the GSM blue. I haven't had a Maverick for a couple of vintages, and I'm pretty sure they sold the winery didn't they? Has anyone tried the 2016?

Has anyone had the pleasure of trying this wine (winery) ?

Appears to be tripe.Iscariot Marrow Syrah.

I'm not very impressed with the '16 GSM if that's relevant. Hopefully they offer some more Cab or Cab blends

There was a huge run on Maverick a couple of years ago (IIRC), not sure what the overall feedback was. Tried the label some time back but despite the price wasn't tempted to restock. Not sure if that helps.....

Swinney Tirra Lirra Syrah 2017
