I have a very good friend who is an A&E nurse who saved a life onboard on the outbound leg of his holiday, flying QF a few years ago. He was very pleasantly surprised to find an upgrade from Y to F on his return leg. Seemed appropriate level of recognition to me at the time.

lol this is just like the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in the last season where Larry's Dr mate didn't put his hand up when Larry was travelling with him ... then when they were both playing golf together and had a wager on the game with each other, his Dr mate happily took an emergency call and had to leave because he was playing badly, thus getting out of the bet.

how many of you guys would do the same ... lol. A few I reckon.

What. By what reasoning do you pick on them and leave alone the researchers into why the pyramids are shaped like pyramids who call themselves doctors? If they are legally entitled to the designation of Dr, then they are doctors.

someone with a Doctorate of Philosophy is the only real Dr compared to these jumped up people with a bachelor degree who call themselves doctor...

Maybe this should be in the outrageous thread.

Less outrageous, chiros, podiatrists and optometrists simply are not medical doctors.

Sometimes a young trainee or resident doctor might be quite appreciative of what a senior nurse would have experienced and assist with. This is not a new thing at all and certainly not your reaction with language of a cancer on the system.

Typical of the new breed of arrogant and delusional nurses who think they have the same skills and qualifications as a doctor. The phenomenon is a real cancer on the health system.

Recently on a European rail journey I was seated opposite to an Australian GP. Over the train PA was an announcement in English and other languages asking if there was a doctor on board.

To see the look on his face was quite a shock. A sudden change from adventurous European holiday to one of concern. Was he actually going to be of any assistance with the language issues anyway.

As it turned out, the train arrived at a major station and they made the call again after leaving the station. Had it be a genuine emergency surely putting a person off at a station would have been a better idea.
