I think people are worrying too much. Qantas always said they didn’t want to have LTP. Now as a bit of a gimmick they have created it, but put a rarely obtainable number of SC as the goal. I don’t think this indicates at all that they think the other limits are too low.

Just a warning a year or two out. Perhaps more. Then grandfathered. No point in three-month warning. Would be very poor form.

When Singapore stopped offering Lifetime Solitaire status they gave 6 months notice. Anyone who had qualified by the end of the notice period was grandfathered. I missed out (needed a further 6 months or so), which ironically was the reason I later did a push for QF LTG (7000 SCs in a month) when private equity were sniffing around. I didn't want to miss out twice.

Good point there. Easy to launch something that really won't have much $$ impact.

Now sitting at 13,089 and with my current DSC running out on 8/8/19, now awaiting the next version. Probably will still be a couple of years for me to achieve it, as I need to also concern myself with VA status (maintaining Gold). There at least I have my family to help me....

woohoo, got to LTG :)

Still P1 for 10 months so will enjoy that first, but it's nice to know I'll have LTG to fall back on :)

My situation is pretty much the same as you. I got to P1 for the first time and LTG on the same flight last month.

But now I'm pretty much no longer flying frequently, I've decided to stop working as much so I'll just have LTG when I do fly. I imagine I'll have P1 for the next 16 months, then down to WP in Nov 2020 then permanent LTG Nov 2021. We've got a few flights during my P1 period, including a J trip around Europe via Toronto so I'll be able to enjoy some of the world's nicest lounges before I stop.

I went from nothing to LTG in 7 years due to this forum so thanks to everyone for their help.

Finally joined BAEC and I'm looking forward to earning with them where I won't be penalised for flying other OW airlines and where LTP is actually achievable! I'm deciding whether I should start doing this even before I cross the LTG linewith QF (as I'll have WP status with them for another year)...

I've got the same conundrum @MH_fan, but I've decided it's better to have a fall back position in place and decided to run the final hurdle to LTG, but likely to do it mostly using future DSC's. I'm only early 50's, so my question is whether I then go and finish my AA LTG (2/3rds there and can then credit QF flight that earn under AA to it and the remainder back at QF or even BAEC). I'm starting from nothing at BAEC and need to do some more investigation into that program. In retirement, flying won't be in lower far buckets so BAEC would seem the better option. YMMV.

I'm on track to retain WP for another year and will literally be <100SCs from LTG at that time, which I can achieve with just a few domestic flights. I already have a few international trips booked after that time, which will essentially go to waste so this is what prompted me to join BAEC. I also travel to Europe frequently enough to qualify for the minimum required flights I need to take on BA.

I did say it was my cynical me.

It's just that 7, 14, 75 doesn't make sense to me; although I acknowledge the comments regarding what it does/doesn't cost QF.

QF could 'enhance' LT status to say 19k LTS, 38k LTG and 75k LTP to make the thresholds more 'sensible'.

As an aside, I have relied on my LTG status for two full years now and only received SG benefits on a single (BA Y) flight only...
