Not sure which website I read it (or maybe I didn't at all), but can someone confirm that taking inter-island flights within Hawaii (e.g., Oahu to Maui), flying Hawaiian Airlines on their higher fare buckets, is similar to a status credit run due to the higher number of SCs earned?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes, very inexpensive F and loads of SC.

Don't expect to earn many VA points though.

Not looking for points, just SCs. I have a few Island hops to make so may as well get some value out of them.

How do you go about entering your velocity details into the booking? I have an inter-island hop in a couple of weeks - want to make sure we pickup the few points from it rather than it go to waste.

The easiest is to ask at the airport (during check in process). Make sure the number shows on your boarding pass before leaving the check in desk.

We still had to retro claim despite that. So keep your boarding passes everyone.

I added my VA number on at check-in. It shows on the BP when properly attached. Both my HA itineraries posted automatically 8 days after the flights. US$112 each way, 40 SC, 102 Velocity points.

Late last year I had three HA domestic hops all in F. Was able to net 120 status credits and easily add my VA number to the bookings by using the online chat feature on HA's website.

The number didn't appear on the boarding passes but sure enough they came through around a week later.

I find I always have to retro claim on the website. Just a bit of mild bureaucracy to get the points and SCs.

We have family trip booked with QF to HNL then Ha to OGG and back.

At this stage, the QFFs are in the booking, what is the best process to claim onto the HA flights?

Ask in HNL at transfer? Retro-claim? Other?

If you have a QF number on the HA ticket, you must remove it before you fly. You will not be able to retroclaim with VA if there was another FF number on the booking at the time of flight.

I would call and have it switched, then at cgeck-in ask them to confirm it. It should be on your printed airport issued BP (not sure about online or phone BP).

I believe the QF number to be on the QF segments only (done by TA - long story). They seem unable to add another (VA) FF number into the booking.

Regardless of what you do, make sure the right number appear on the right boarding pass (QF number for QF flights and VA number for HA ones). This is best done when collecting your boarding passes during the check in process at airport. This is your only proof (which you may need to provide if you end up having to put in a retro-claim).

HA also has an online chat facility - I have used that to request the VA number be added. I agree with the comments to keep your boarding passes - I have done this a few times points/SCs usually come through, but not always.

Another perk of flying business is you get 2 suitcases included - often that nearly covers the cost of flying in the higher class.

Hi all,

Does anyone know for certain whether you pick up SCs for each leg of a one way that includes a stop? I’m looking at flying KOA-LIH but the routing through HNL departs at a more convenient time than the direct flight, so I’d prefer to book that. Will this mean that I’d get 80 SCs on this ticket in F, or just the 40 based on origin and final destination? I assume the latter but hope the former!

Generally as long as it is 2 separate flight numbers then it is SCs for each leg.

fantastic, sure seems easy way to pick up 40SC, 2 of us going to HNL & doing an island hop, so with VA family pooling, easy 160SC's thankyou, good perk with VA.
Will fly business inter-island as flying to HNL in business so need the 2x baggage anyway.

Handy to know this before hand, great website AFF here.
