Having relatives in Alice Springs means that I use the various look up sites for fares exASP.
Seems some VA fares in May (Tue/Wed) are cheaper through to DPS than stopping in DRW.

Does VA become as aggravated as some more well known airlines if you just dont get on the "next flight"?

You would have to give your passport details though, so they would, if they wanted to, chase you up.
You also would have prepaid the Aust movement charge, not sure what the rate is now, and also the international security charge at DRW, as all Aust airfares now include taxes and charges, ie, you don't pay anything on the way from ASP to DPS at DRW.
I would say, that VA (effectively you) would have to prepay, a lot of charges that are not utilised, ie, the pax movement charge and the security charges, as well as airport facilities charges.
As mentioned on here though, (other threads), if you do a 'bonk' without connecting onto the DRW - DSP flight, they would have to call your name on the PA system, and that you should go to the gate or "baggage offloading processes have commenced".

I am not sure what the point of this explanation is; the OP stated flights to DPS (via DRW) are cheaper than flights to DRW. VA has decided to absorb these extra fees and charges because of other business factors.

As has been explained above, airlines "could" come after you to recover the difference. They never used to do. There has been only one recent case where the airline has threatened to start (or maybe has started) proceedings against the passenger. Whether it will end up in court is anyone's guess. And if it does end up to go before court, the wildcard is what the court decision will be. Who knows...
