Episode 1 was really interesting. I haven't had a chance to watch episode 2 yet.

The development of the 747 (as shown in E1) had its problems, so for commercial the aircraft was delivered to airlines without rectifying all the problems. I hope the development and delivery of the 737 MAX does not have a similar story.

You certainly can't imagine an aircraft being allowed to fly for 12 months with multiple engine failures these days.

Indeed not. On the other hand, do modern aircraft have 3 back-ups for each system?

Remember that the 747 can fly on one engine, has 4 hydraulic systems, has 4 of every system.

Seeing the shots of the 747-8 made me wish I had the time and the free cash flow to seek it out and fly on it just because it is the latest and last generation of the mighty 747.

I flew it on Lufthansa, unfortunately on the main deck. A bit disappointed to find that the experience wasn't much different from the old birds, except everything was noticeably newer.

Yes, my plan would be to fly it in at least J.

I suppose it is an evolution of an existing plane not a new plane. The experience would therefore be about the old bird but with the latest in seats and service in the premium cabins.

I was in main deck J. I think the new experience would be in the upper deck. I didn't even get a peek there as everytime I went to ' stretch my legs' up the staircase, it was seemingly 'guarded' by a FA. Didn't get a look-in :(

Certainly the bathrooms were nice and new, not with the horrid cracked and yellowed fittings in the old ones.
