My corporate Qantas Club membership (which is a discounted rate that I can salary sacrifice) is due for renewal at start of May and my FF Year ends at end of July.

Barring any sudden change in work travel or failure for DSC to credit properly for my PER-LEA flights, I will qualify for Gold on June 30.

So if i renew my QC, i understand it will go on hold whilst Im Gold so for 13 months, and then resume when I likely drop back to Silver in July 2021? Will Qantas issue me an amended QC card when I drop back to Silver with a new expiry date to reflect the 13 month suspension?

I could skip renewing the QC and just use up the stack of complementary CC passes I've acquired until the Gold kicks in, but work are cracking down on travel so there is a risk i just miss gold (as am banking on work trips in May) and cant squeeze in a status run, will this mean if I want to rejoin QC id have to pay the joining fee again as well as another membership year?

Yes, if you make it to Gold then your remaining membership will resume after you drop back down to Silver.

If you decide to buy a new Qantas Club membership later on, you won't pay the joining fee again if you've just dropped from Gold to Silver. You can also decide to renew it after the current membership expires. You'll just have to backdate the membership from the date your previous membership expired (or the date that you dropped from Gold to Silver).

If I were you, I would not pay for renewal right now.

I still have ~3 months of unused Qantas Club membership from 4 years ago that I will eventually use if I ever drop back to Silver.

Qantas will usually waive the joining fee within a certain period of time, but in doing so they may also sometimes backdate the membership, so you end up paying for months you didn't use (same rate for the year, but the membership only lasts 9-10 months say). This can be better than paying the joining fee though.

I did renew QC in May as there was a favourable offer and i did just qualify for Gold on 29th June.

Now when I log into my QFF account there is no longer any record displayed anywhere of my QC membership (i thought it might show as suspended) and my congrats you are now Gold email didn't mention what happened to my QC membership.

Should i have screenshotted my account to show the QC expiry before the SCs posted to make me gold? How do I ensure the 22 months of unused QC access is returned?

A recent change in work travel policy means I can no longer book flex tix, so my points earn next year will be much less, and i will likely only qualify for silver, unless im able to take advantage of the AY RTW J specials next year.

we had ours suspended for years and there was no record of this on our FF account. After I made LTG I asked for the remainder to be returned and they had records and were easily able to refund it.

If you aren’t likely to keep gold isn’t it better to let it stay suspended and then it will reactivate when you need it. Could be cheaper than getting it refunded and then taking out a new membership when you drop from gold.

This is my plan, I just want to be certain that when I drop back to Silver/Bronze the whole 22 unused months are available once more. I renewed for 2 years due to a great discount and salary sacrificed it on the assumption it would cost more later.

I had been wondering the same thing. I still have ~2 months left on my Qantas Club membership from several years ago before I hit gold. Is there any way I can check that Qantas actually will honour this if I drop back to Silver next year?

Ms FM had some membership on hold when she dropped back to silver and it reactivated immediately without any issues.

Mine shows up on the app, and I'm almost certain (going from memory though) that it's detailed in 'My account' on the QF website. See attached screenshot from the app. My new membership year just ticked over yesterday so the expiry date of April 2021 reflects the QC membership, not my Silver status (which would expire June 30 2020).

it shows up if you are silver or bronze, but not if gold or above. Presumably because they don’t know what the expiry date is because they don’t know when it will be reactivated. Ms FM has her expiry date in her account, but Mr FM doesn’t. Which reminds me I must get his refunded - he has only been LTG for nearly 2 years - I am far too slack!

 of course. I spent a couple of years at Gold and only recently dropped back to Silver - I think my mind was still in Gold-mode. Sorry.

Never mind me!
