No you're right, neither would I. I'd tell her to buy it herself! :D
Ha She's our only heir so might as well spend a bit on her now, she's coming home for concerts that I also bought tickets for :)

Did put her on basic gateway fare though, didn't even pay for economy-X :p

Happy Hour question! They often have 10% off Virgin Holidays, does this apply to hotel only bookings? Virgin sent me a birthday email with $25 off a $250 spend with Virgin Hotels. Difficult to spend as their hotel prices aren't particularly competitive. Wondering if I can do better...

I don't think it apply to Hotel only bookings.
However, I am posting to let you know there has been previous comments about the T&C's of hotel bookings in terms of cancellations. So I thought I would make you aware that should you proceed make sure you read the T&C's in regards to cancellations.

The first happy hour of the year (today's) is normally really good. However, not great this year as it's more in line with recent offerings.

It was good for me as I noticed that QF may have dropped the price of a flight I've been watching in response to VA's Happy Hour, so I booked it before the price went up again today...

Are Happy Hour prices available through travel agencies (specifically Amex Travel) at the relevant times?

Now up - some NZ sales this week ...
Not sure if it's just the routes I look at, but in general to me it seems that happy hour sales are for dates closer in, but for a relatively higher price (still good though). Whereas I noticed last year you would get 4-6 months notice but a really super price.

They do not love me anymore - no email this week, glitch site or not, I did not see it this week.

Truth be told have not seen a thing for months that looks like any kind of deal - to me anyway.
