Due to some odd plane change quirk my partner and I flew QR first today. Al Safwa Lounge here we go. Pics are above. General impressions, it's cavernous! Architecturally wow.

Good: food was excellent, booze list excellent, although not the champagne as per ausbt recent article (and I asked).

Poor: shower cubicles with no toilets inside, lack of snack options, no quick food options like biz lounge.

Off for my flight. If I wanted a quick meal and a shower on a layover, I might go to the QR biz lounge. This place is beautiful though ill give it that.

Oh quiet rooms are only if here for 6 hrs or more, those showers have toilets inside.

Shower facilities/ rooms/cubicles in Doha are abject poor - across all lounge configurations in both C and F.

The better of the poor are the day rooms in Al Safwa.

Otherwise, they all are horribly hot and sweaty post shower.

On a par with the Thai Airways J offering in BKK - which are more dated as well as even more and sauna-like

Such a shame Qatar.

AFF members have for long been suggesting that you install an exhaust fans in each shower cubicle.

Who listens?.. who cares?..
One reason ( of several) to retain awareness.

... No listen, no solutions...

That’s strange about the toilets. They are in the J Al Mourjan bathrooms. But I didn’t find the shower experience as nice was what I was hoping for and felt hotter afterwards.

re toilets in Al Moujan shower units, yes its very strange.
Also, we were directed to the 'family area' which has only 2 shower units within each of the male and female and no toilets inside. (as a side note the family area also had similar private areas to the nap areas in Al mourjan, if no familys were in here, would be a good way to get a few zzzs)

They wouldnt let us use a day room, which do have toilets inside the showers, as we were departing in 2.5 hrs, need to be in there for 6 hrs. Despite the lounge being empty bar us and 3 other people.
After I mentioned it, they said its possible to use something in the spa area, but I didn't check.
Note, all spa services are cost + and the min looked about 80usd. No free 10 min leg massage for QR!

Al Mourjan bathrooms had toilets in the same room.

Yes, i'm aware. they are also slightly better ventilated and there is far more of them - 8 - 10.
Thats my point, compared to al safwa, al mourjan excels in the bathroom department.
IF i was on a short stopover in QR first, i'd go shower in Al mourjan, then of to al safwa for dinner and drinks, time dependent. IF I was in a rush, I wouldnt even go to al safwa, the service there for food takes too long and no quick options.
