Trying to get my head around the maths here:

Currently on 555SC with 10SC away from my loyalty bonus. Looking at ADL-MEL-OOL in Economy(M) netting me 100SC (50x2) and OOL-MEL-ADL on Economy(Q) for 50SC (25x2). So all up I should be receiving 150 SC, totalling 705 SC and into SG. Then I can choose the 50SC loyalty bonus after my rollover date (31/03) to start next years tally?

Have I missed anything?

If I and a relative both register and get our confirmation emails, can I make a booking for both of us on the same flight and be sure we will both get DSC? I presume DSC are given based on registration and membership number. Thanks.

Yes, as long as you are both registered and add your QFF numbers to the booking you will get DSC.

Thanks for such a quick answer, has eased my relative's mind and hunger for SC!!

Has the promo period for DSCs ever been this short? I remember all previous ones lasting 12 months...

The site shows standard SCs. DSCs usually get credited 2-3 days after flying though the T&Cs do state to allow some weeks for them to post and the early flights in the flying window usually take longer to post than later ones.
Thanks :) I thought that would be the case but just wanted to check :)

The DSC pop up on the home page now visible to me. I know in the past people booking on the first morning(before 10am) had some problems getting their bonus credited , as the QF booking system is time stamps the pax booking with GMT .So perhaps they push it out in the early arvo so as to avoid lots of manual intervention later for those who jump in early

Offer has just arrived via email - subject line is "<First Name>, soar higher with double Status Credits"

The apparent change in policy (now 2 promos in a row) to more specific travel periods is interesting to me.

I can think of several reasons to do this:

1. Target specific and probably lower booked periods rather than a blanket "for the next 353 days" to ensure people who will taker the bait will give their bookings and thus money to QF for the nominated period. I am certain last October's "bonus" DSC promo being set to end at the end of the financial year was no co-incidence as related to the balance sheet.

2. Potentially push people to pull the trigger NOW rather than assuimg another will show up in a few months (though it may also be safe to assume that there will be another promotion in the 2nd half of the year, but obviousy not guaranteed)

3. Limit the "damage" from a longer period of eligible flights, thus potentially less people gaining status (doubtful tbh but it may be a factor). eg: say I plan to go somewhere in September or November (or even Christmas) maybe QF figures if DSC promotion period ends before then I may think oh well and just book the flights anyway and they don't have to give up the DSC. Those more flex folks can, of course, wait till later in the year if MAYBE another promo will drop, but the numbers of people actually doing this solely to take advantage of DSC woudl, I think, be very low in the overall scheme of things.

Obviously they are being less generous her with the travel period, but it kind of also makes sense too. Given the aim is revenue in the short term, there may also be a component that thinks business may picl up in the 2nd half, and/or they can improve yield without a promotion like tis to stimulate demand, or they intend far more sales as another tool.

This promo, foer example, gives me personally zero benefit, so I'm not taking part. My flights are booked and I should make P1. by 31 Aug (which is my membership date too) so for me.. I sit back and watch with interest.

It may well be that for awhile we may see a number of bonus SC promotions with shorter travel windows become more of a norm.

Keeps us all on our toes :D

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using the link earlier in this thread didn't work, cleared browser history, used the link mailed to me which arrived early afternoon and finally got a confirmation email. Trying to work out what I can book to get some benefit, given big crackdown/restrictions on booking work travel too far out atm and was asked to book the approved trips at start of last week (DSC offers always come through a few days after i make bookings).

Does anyone know if QFLINK flights are covered by this promotion? Need to do a run but one of the flights OOL>SYD is operated by QF Link.

Yes as the flight will be on a 'QF' code.

Just to clarify, QantasLink flights will earn DSCs but it’s not due to the flights having a QF code. Codeshare flights with a “QF” flight number that are operated by a partner airline (i.e. not Qantas, QantasLink or Jetconnect) will not earn double status credits.

My understanding is that before the last DSC, it was open to commonwealth government employees, and thst this exclusion was added for the first time last time .

Will find out in about a months time whether this is the case.

If I book a flexible fare this week (during the promo period) - where I have the option to delay paying; but not pay until after the offer ends, will I get DSCs?

Wouldn't you know it, we booked hubby's QF flights LHR-SYD return on the weekend for March then this promo came out today :( :( - he is LT gold so won't make much difference as he is not aiming for plat.
