Scoot denied boarding due to previous incident?

not strictly Australian I know, but here is an interesting article that appeared in the Singapore press.

In short,

1. Pax who was travelling with elderly mother was denied boarding at SGN to SIN for an undisclosed reason - staff did not have an exact reason apart from his name was on a "list"

2. pax inally purchased 3K tickets (at probably last minute more expensive prices) to get back

3. Scoot gave refund.

4. Some background - pax had previously alleged Scoot retimed another flight and gave him wrong information (causing him to miss the flight) - pax made a complaint to Scoot for compensation + in the local press. pax suspects this was the reason he was denied boarding for his SGN flight. (Scoot apologises after emailing passenger reminder with wrong timing, causing him to miss flight - Stomp)

5. Upon enquiry, Scoot said pax did not comply with previous COC - statement was "Mr Teo was refused carriage on the Scoot flight due to a previous incident during which Scoot's Conditions of Carriage were deemed not to have been complied with by Mr Teo."

This raises very interesting and on the face of it very serious issuess

a. can an airline deny you boarding for a current flight, simply because you made a complaint about the airline?

b. how can Scoot deny boarding for a current flight on an allegation of a breach of a previous COC (ie does the previous contract / COC flow over to the current contact?!).

c. even if pax was on no fly list - what is the appropriate amount of time to inform the pax? and did the pax get prior notification?

I'm assuming that pax here had not previously engaged in criminal / intimidating behaviour, and his only fault was complaining about the airline in a public forum. heck, if that rule applied to all, most of us here on AFF would be on a no-fly list!

Perhaps if they're bold enough to publicly claim the pax didn't comply with the the COC, they should disclose which condition was breached and how (without giving away any privileged information, of course). Otherwise it would be easy to draw the same conclusion that the passenger did.
 
I don't see complaining about the airline being a breach of the COC. It would likely be something else like poor behaviour with ground staff or intoxication or something else along those lines as specific in 8.1 of the COC: https://cdn.flyscoot.com/prod/legacy/images/coc/scoot_conditions_of_carriage_final.pdf

I think the airline is perhaps being polite by not specifying which one applies.

Can previous behaviour carry foward? Probably. For example a disruptive passenger on a QF flight can be banned from subsequent travel on QF.

Most definitely.

Researching the character involved, I learn't a new term - guai lan - this all now makes more sense :)

i missed a connecting flight in sin once even though flight was delayed for hours they refused to let us board. no refund of taxes allowed as they said its less then the admin fee to process such a claim. be aware i try and avoid them from now on.
