This display below the overhang of the Centre was informative. I knew that Fremantle was a significant US submarine base during WW2, but Albany was also. And silo art at Albany after I left the Centre and headed into town for lunch.

That'd be interesting. Presume the airport would handle B737s and such. Maybe not anything bigger.

I did mean connecting from PER. I don't think QF have any turbo props based in PER. But perhaps a 717 or F100. Not sure what VA has in town.

I am just catching up with this TR. Lots of the places are very familiar but your photos are excellent. Nicet o see a mention of Chamberlain Tractors - my father and brother worked there, overlapping, from the 1950's to the 1980's.

Agree on having a decent phone camera.... a real pocket rocket :)

In the afternoon it was out to Torndirrup N P on the peninsula opposite Albany. Natural bridge and rugged coast.

The Gap is impossible to capture fully in a single pic. Walking close to the edge is highly inadvisable; people have died.

Back to the Field of Light at sunset. I found the display interesting enough, but not spectacular.

I want a drone to play with now

They're actually incredibly easy to use and pretty idiot proof. Mine has some nice automatic movie taking features where it will rotate around a subject, spiral out and do various other things. It's a little like any photography really. Just need to give the scene a little thought and pick the best option. </thread hijack>

Next morning it was the final stretch home via Nannup. About midway between Manjimup and Nannup is a northern section of karri (Eucalyptus diversicolor) forest, with four trees in a line called The Four Aces.

And the likely explanation for its Latin name.

Finally, the wooden clock at Nannup, recently put on public view with the construction of a clocktower above a corner shop. I was so overawed by the clock itself that I forgot to take a pic of the clock tower and face from the outside. An amazing piece of woodcraft.

A simpler wooden clock that the craftsman makes on commission.

And then it was a beeline home after a great little trip.

Sorry @JohnM maybe the mods can start us a new thread because I am interested in more including costs and skills - if not I'll start a new thread :p
