Is there are specific day/time that Qantas (or One World airlines) release available award seats?

I have been following a couple of routes (Sin to Mel & Syd to HKG) that we are hoping to get J class award seats for a few months now and the avails never appear to change. There always appears to be J seats in the week before or week after .... but never a change on the weeks we are able to fly.

Happy to patiently wait for something to change and will continue to keep checking everyday .... but was interested if there is a specific day/time of the week that avails may be allocated.

I think its around 10am Brisbane time each day but someone else could probably confirm

That’s true for Qantas flights. As for their partners like CX, QR, EK etc, well, they are all over the shop. And also different status passengers may see awards before others can.

I'd be checking more than once a day.

In my experience it's rare for releases to be 100% consistent.
Interestingly an EK flight bobbed up at 10.10am Adelaide flight that wasn’t there when I checked earlier this morning. But EK are totally loopy currently. No pattern at all.

The initial 353 day release is pretty consistent at 12midnight UCT.
This covers QF metal.
If you have SG+ status you will have access to all classes released.
If you are PS/NB, you will only see Y seats.

At 297 (ish) days - this seems very inconsistent, any leftover Y+,J,F (QF metal) will be released to PS/NB.
Havent been able to determine exact time of the release of these, and even the day(s) aren't a definite pattern of 297 at this stage.
On routes I check anyway.

The Oneworld Classic Award thread has non-QF metal release points in the Wiki I think, where all travel classes seem available to all QF statuses at point of release.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The pattern I see with EK is that Y awards are released a few days before J and F where relevant. But not for all routes. Eg, 18th December appeared today in J but I saw that in Y a few days ago. Now, 22nd Dec is just showing up in Y but not J.

And just to confirm that, 24th December is open on EK to Dubai from Melbourne but not Adelaide yet.

Ok. An update. At 9.30am this morning (Sunday 20th Jan) only the 24th Dec was showing for EK to Dubai. I just wanted to do a final check of the points I needed so logged in again at 10.35am. I clicked on the 24th again and proceeded to next screen then realised, hang on, there was a J flag for the 25th! WT? So frantically back pedalled and sure enough I was able to book the flights I wanted through to Tel Aviv.

So it seems like Qantas 10am Brisbane time works for EK flights AND are released before revenue tickets on the EK site and much earlier than 330 days out!

Im surprised they also release on weekends.

I think, from observations last year, that EK can or do release in 'batches' (maybe a week at a time) - ie. not each day at precisely 330 days out.

The key is to dummy around a while ahead to read the tea leaves so as to be ready to pounce.

Totally agree with this. I’ve often wondered if Qantas can see how many times I’m checking. But it really pays off.

I had some flights open up to me a couple of years ago at 5pm Adelaide time I think, in winter. So no DST. I’d stayed back late at work to book them. But I could ‘see’ them earlier that day but just couldn’t book them.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I read somewhere that EK also release seats to QF about a week out from departure depending on loads. Is anyone able to confirm this?

We use qantas points to fly around usa a lot especially in their winter. We use seasonal flights to places like colorado every northern winter from nyc lax sfo etc & prefer to only fly into denver as last resort. We keep an eye out, but note that over last few years ff seats on flights in & out of denver get loaded with a week of flights being loaded in res systems whivh occurs around 330 days out. Flights into places like aspen get loaded around may for dec to April flights. There always seems to be heaps of ff seats into 2ndary colorado airports except some Fridays & Sundays which makes sense

I've scored EK business class seats on QF about 7-10 days out before. None on QF themselves of course. EK have an excellent product (better than QF anyway) although they've recently taken the limo out of FF redemptions.
