Was just browsing flights to CHC and have noticed that the MEL-CHC flight (QF133) moves to 8.15am as of the end of March, then 7.15am when daylight savings ends!

So much for being able to head over after work for the weekend.:( Not a great move on behalf of Qantas.

You might find they are awake then anyway :p
We've now had quite a few EK BNE-SIN flights that depart around 2:30am with our 2 year old and I find that it's better for her. She's a late sleeper anyway and we keep her awake until boarding and she sleeps through most of the flight.

We'll more than likely book same flight for April trip.

Not sure thats so practical with a 2 month old (which is when we were looking to travel).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not really the point, though I appreciate the humour. Seems a silly move on behalf of QF to make it so difficult for people to go away for the weekend. If you cant take time off work youre stuck with 7am Saturday, then a 1pm return on the Sunday for barely 24 hours on the ground.

Well clearly not a target market in Qantas eyes. But who the heck is these days?

They must have decided that it doesn’t make business sense to continue the service at that time, competing against both NZ and VA, moving to the morning timing where they only compete with NZ.

Without the QF shackles there are options to have a weekend away in CHC (and not using the JQ red eye), it’s not as if they are the only operator.

A Good reason why this happens...

Whilst Melbourne will lose the evening service, Brisbane will gain one.

Currently, a single 737 normally runs the route:

BNE (7am) - CHC (1:30pm)
CHC (2:25pm) - MEL (4:15pm)
MEL (6:45pm) - CHC (11:59pm)
CHC (7:10am) - BNE (7:55am)

this will change to two different 737's operating

MEL (7:15am) - CHC (12:35pm)
CHC (1:25pm) - MEL (3:10pm)

BNE (6:55pm) - CHC (12:10am)
CHC (6:05am) - BNE (8:10am)

Just a pity that the connecting flights are so much more expensive too.

And yes, there are other airlines, but this had been quite a convenient option.
