I was looking to burn some QFF points and came across this 'value' redemption opportunity.

JFK-DXB-PER one way on EK in J has a total 'tax' component of USD841 (or ~AUD1163), with a carrier surcharge component of USD812 (or ~AUD1123).

Is there another (max two sector) one way QFF flight that has a carrier surcharge higher than this?

Is there another (max two sector) one way redemption flight on any FF program that has a carrier surcharge higher than this?

BA knows how to 'implement' a carrier surcharge so may be they could beat the above. EY has some high J/F surcharges as well.

For comparison, a SQ KF J redemption flight has a total 'tax' component of USD49 for JFK-FRA-SIN-PER or only USD25 for EWR-SIN-PER. It would require 18k less points/miles as well (110k KF vs 128k QFF)...

Yep - next month JFK-xBOS-HKG in First (AA/CX) cost me 110K AAdvantage and AUD7.90 in +++ (or was that +--) ...

Yes, QFF are milking the YQ for ex USA bookings. St

This is EK though, QF are just passing it on. And pretty much every airline now that has a link to EK redemption's seem to be passing them on or have significantly increased the points required to redeem (especially those from the US) - due to the ludicrous surcharges EK charge ex-US.

While QF surcharges certainly stink, the ex-US rewards with EK are on a completely different level.

I thought $642.50 for a one-way DXB-HKG flight was pretty nasty!
