Hi guys,

Hope this is the right place to post this. I’ve got a couple flights coming up next month back to South Africa and both my flights are business on Singapore’s A350. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this new seat but having never flown business with Singapore I figured they’d be better than economy no doubt. Anyway bit of an odd question but which seat would be best to get a decent view of the engine? Preferably left side of the plane and I’ve included an example pic and my seat selection. It’s my current seat selection close enough? Anyway these flights depart late evening Melbourne and land early morning in Johannesburg so not too sure if it’s even worth worrying about.

Those are fine. Check in the few days before departure for rows 11DF and 19 to open up (row 19 may not be available until the airport as its all bassinet, but 11DF should open before departure if not already assigned to elites)

Seats in D and F aren’t going to get much view of the engine though......

There question was specifically about which seats for the best view of the engine, so I am tipping the former.

Yes - although there was the qualification in the last sentence that departing and arriving in darkness means they weren't sure if it was worth worrying about.

Bottom line is that yes, a window seat is generally preferable to the centre ones, but you're going to have that tiny cubby for your feet unless at a bulkhead.

SQ is the major exception I have to the choice of bulkhead seats in business class. The proximity of the galley/WC is outweighed by the vastly increased personal space and comfort.

I took this flight with SQ in Sept. Departure out of SQ being 1am ish (from memory) and arrival into JNB about 6am (in typical SQ fashion it was early) there won't be too much to see when taking off. Hopefully when you get to JNB the air is clean and clear - was pretty hazy when we arrived. Arrival in Cape Town was a treat though - stormy and bucketing !

The flight back is handy - mid afternoon departure and early AM into SIN should let you nab some nice pics (Assuming clear skies) plus you've have a few hours ish of flight time in daylight.

PS I wouldn't be too concerned about the continual grumbles about the foot cubby. I've flippers for feet, and yep it could be roomier, but it was fine for me. *Disclaimer - Unless you're Ian Thorpe or similar and have size Crazy feet.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yea unfortunately the timings of these flights doesn't allow for some nice daytime pics. I've read so much negativity surrounding this new seat that I suppose worrying about the window view is the least of my concern..
