Testing Double zip compression bags.

Having been a long time rollup vacuum bag user, im keen to see how these compare.

Did you lay your clothes flat in them or roll them first then zip it up?

I laid them flat.

Stitching still looking good on the really stuffed bag so far. Didn't think to roll them so something to try on the weekend.

Zips and stitching held up great so far but as for "compression", I just don't see it. It squishes the sides but end result is a hard pillow shape.

4 Tshirts, 1 thermal long sleeve, 1 thick polartec jumper.





Gortex jacket, 4 undies, 2 pairs socks, 1 singlet, 1 jeans, 1 ruggers shorts.

I just bought some compression bags from woolies. I’ll try this out tomorrow for comparison. I think the end result will be a hard lump but will be interesting to see what the compression is like.

I used Big W roller vacuum bags for Scotland and they worked great and the one jacket I took that I didn't need, stayed squished for about 4mths (I'm a lazy unpacker).

Now that they're packed, I'm going to use them for next week's trip to see if zipper bursts with baggage handling but right now, save your money.

I hate unpacking. Depressing. I put the suitcase in another room and shut the door on it.

If you liked the woolies ones did you think these would be better?

We will only have a laundry on the cruise but as that is after 10 days of travel this will be useful.

I tend to find that the vacuumed packs tends to leak at times. Did anyone tried with vacuum pack inside the compression packs (to help the vacuum pack "stay" compressed)? And if so, and difference in the size (height)?

It's going to be after Christmas as I need smaller vacuum bags to try.

Just started packing my bag for next week and said screw it and went back to normal packing cube.

Well, just got around to testing the Woolworths travel bags and I’m quite happy with the result.

This will be my bulkiest item.

Just asking ...is there a lot of ironing out of creases when you arrive, if you compress your clothes rather than rolling them. I can understand how it would be good if travelling with bulky clothing to a cold climate, but wondering if these compression bags are useful for summer clothing to save space.

Yes, I have a similar bag and thought the roll vacuum bag worked great for jackets and polartec so will be using again for Iceland.

Have the 2 double zipper bags packed for our Tassie Christmas, being so hard I actually prefer the old packing cell as they can be squished around things like camera stuff hubby takes, can't do that with these bags.

Re ironing, I don't usually care about that when we travel as it's either too hot (Cambodia) or too cold and I wear a jacket. If going out somewhere nice, quick iron or steam from shower heat.

I think I’d still roll those clothes and put them in the larger ikea bags. This jacket was much too big for that and we will only need it for 10 days in a 30 day trip so it can come out, be used, then go back. I’ll be using T-shirt’s all the time so they will be rolled.

I dont think they're merino wool at all.

I've used compression vacuum bags a lot and think they're amazing, unless they leak..as for ironing. I like to iron, and my hotel room arrival routine is usually to iron all my clothes for that particular stay anyway so it doesn't bother me.

I find that pants you could get away without ironing, but shirts, after being compressed probably do need an iron if you're heading into work or so.

As for those shirt folding systems, i find these to be the most pointless - i must be doing something wrong as they don't keep clothes wrinkle free AND they and being bulky in my bag.


I'm still awaiting my Qubix but look forward to seeing if my experience is the same
