I am going to Greece, Ireland and HKG and am anticipating using cash and/or cards at restaurants and stores. What are the recommended cash or debit cards? No OS tx fees etc. I have credit cards but they attract fees and charges overseas. Thanks

For me, my 28 degrees MC has never been hacked, but my St George VISA has been hacked three times.
No credit (payment) card has ever been hacked. There is not even any value for any criminal to target one person for this.

A credit card number can be obtained in so many different ways, The provider or product type has nothing to do with any of the known methods. Probably the most common method now is getting numbers from credit card merchants with low/lax security.

It would be interesting to check comparitive rates.

Before I came across AFF I used to swear by an ANZ product I had with no fees.

Very quickly I found that there was a built in arbitrage of 2.5% in the exchange rate.

Same goes+ for most products of the big 4 banks.

28°, ING (when complying with the spend/transactions) & Citibank Plus have little or no such.

I believe there is a Bankwest product with similar attributes.

As noted above, 28 Degrees is still excellent as a credit card. Citi is still excellent as a ATM card for cash, but it is not true that you would never pay ATM fees o/s. In many countries the local ATM operator will add a fee.

I have always travelled with 28 degrees m/c and Citibank debit card with no problems. I did have my ANZ visa with me coming in through Sydney airport in September from USA and within hours of arriving home someone had gone shopping at various places in Sydney. I hadn’t used this card whilst away. My son uses Macquarie (he currently lives in the US as a student. It works for him. I hear from friends that ING is very good.

I arrived in HKG recently with a Citibank debit card in my hand only to find that there is no longer a Citibank ATM in the arrivals hall...

Actually I'm now in HKG again and Citibank has moved to Arrivals Hall A
