ANZ Rewards Travel Adventure Card

I can't seem to find the ATO points topic, but has anyone had any luck earning points paying the taxman using this card?

I would love to earn some tax deductable points ;) for using this card, which I have read the points rule book. But at least a free return flight is provided!

Also: regarding the free flight, do you need to actually book the flight by phone through ANZ? I ask this because we have 2 seperate cards, as well as we might also wish to take a 3rd person on the same booking.

When I booked for my wife and I as we both had the card you had to call ANZ. We did it on the one call, but the CSR had to speak to both of us. CSR could not link the two tickets though.

I would presume that you will just have to book the third with Virgin. Just do a dummy run to book say 6 tickets on Virgin first to check availability and then ring ANZ to book 2 and then online with Virgin to gain the third that you will be purchasing.

I paid the ATO using this card last week. No points accrued unfortunately . Was worth a punt though.

I have this card, and its pretty clear you cant get points from the ATO from the terms/conditions.
(additionally there are resources online that do tell you which credit cards definitely do earn points with the ATO, and there aint many)

Hi, to receive the VA lounge passes for these cards, the accompanying pack tells me to "simply call 1300 367 763 four weeks before you travel and we'll mail your Virgin Australia single entry lounge passes."

Can someone who has recently received their cards advise what the expiry date is?
Mine a normal 12 months after i requested the lounge passes which has been when i booked the flight, even if the flight is over 6 months away.

also does anyone know if i can book a flight like 9 months away even if its no longer in the credit card anniversary year?

you need to book it before the anniversary, doesnt matter when the flight actually takes place.

I can confirm they don't pay points on ATO spend.

With the free flight which supposedly earns points and SC, is it at the Getaway (lowest) fare class?

Who's done the transfer of points to Virgin in Nov for 30% extra. I went through the process today an all along it said the amount of Virgin points were exactly 50% of my ANZ points. i.e nowhere did it show me any 30% uplift of destination Virgin points. I guess I'll wait a few days and see how many actually do land in my VFF account but interested to know other's experience.

I had the same experience. It doesn't say anything about the bonus points when you run the transfer at ANZ Rewards, but you'll get two lots of 15% bonus points appear in your Velocity account.

Has anyone received their lounge passes from this card? I've had it a few months, have cleared the spend, got the bonus points, but no lounge passes so far. Wondering if I just need to be a bit more patient or if I should follow it up.

Thanks for the info, I gave them a call and they're sending them out, though they did say it'd take 4-6 weeks, so hopefully it'll be faster than that.

My experiences claiming the flight reward with this card mirror my experiences with Amex. I mean seriously how few flights do they make available? So I had a lazy 7K EY miles lying around as did my wife, accrued with Garuda. Thought "Hamilton Island would be nice". The friendly rep at EY was most helpful in allowing us to use two EY guest accounts to make that booking for one pax. Then I turned my attention to ANZ. SYD-HTI is a listed destination, but do you think they have any availability 260 days out? No, no can do. As I said to the ANZ rep, I really don't know where you can fly me. Without an online portal to view availability, I'm just stabbing in the dark here. Fly me somewhere - just suggest something and I'll consider it.

...ended up booking direct with VA, I mean I had a travel bank credit there to use anyway. Looking forward to a nice long weekend away at Hammo.

I havent had any troubles gettng my flights, i did BNE-CNS and BNE-MEL and both have been the in demand flights of the day.
One time I asked about the Melbourne flight and he said 7 available in that bucket.

my guess is that an obscure destinatiton with limited flights like HTI would have much less availability.

much less availability.

Well definitely seems to be the case. Selecting seats via VA for those intended SYD-HTI flights had every seat available, which by no means is definitive. I'll just presume there aren't any HTI flights available via ANZ on that day and possibly very many other days as well, but there will be one, sometime-or-other allowing them to place it as a marker on the their destination map. Yeah, I'll try to use it for MEL or something I guess.

You should be able to use the ITA Matrix website to find availability by month. I believe (could be wrong!) that the free ANZ flight requires availability in the "T" economy class fare (in addition to the 60 - or is it 90? - days advanced booking condition).

Matrix - ITA Software by Google

Here's an example searching for VA "T" class fares from SYD to HTI for April:

Damn. If you're right that's a shame, T is very restricted and can be hard to get on quite a few flights.

Yes it’s T class, and you must book at least 60 days in advance. From my experience you do get both status credits and rewards points on the booking though, it’s a standard travel agent booking.
