End of "Qantas Restaurants"

Translation... 'we're not able to make enough money out of this so we're withdrawing the benefit'.

More likely... "Dimmi finally tried to get a reduction in the exorbitant rates we were charging them for QFF points, so we're giving them the flick and focusing on other suppliers who are happy to pay through the nose to offer QFF points to their customers."

Whenever I wanted to book a restaurant I always looked to see if I could book it through Qantas. I will now book direct rather than through Dimmi and I will not be booking NP restaurants!

You'll find that booking direct is still integrated via the Dimmi API anyway (assuming you could via Qantas for the establishment in question).

Before our local golf club bistro moved to Open Table (just a cough engine!) I booked our weekly trivia table through Qantas Restaurants. Between six and eight every week for long enough to clock up close to 50K points with zero effort. I was quite sad to see them leave dimmi. Since then I've booked restaurants maybe twice. Silly of me I suppose but too late to worry about it now.

I'll be sad to see the end of this too. Easy points.

I have been using the dimmi offers as well where at selected restaurants at selected times you can get a 50% or 40% discount off all food.

I'd check QF first and then see if dimmi had a discount offer (would take the discount in preference to points).

Really disappointing, although I suspect a version III of earning Qantas points dining out may be launched in the near future.

I must say Lady Cool Cat & I have discovered some real gems on Qantas restaurants, that we would have probably never have discovered, particularly in inner city Melbourne. The loss of Qantas points, won’t stop us revisiting some of our favourite haunts. :)

Unimpressed, unless they unveil a new system where we can simply use the barcode on our cards to earn/redeem points at more restaurants. Sort of like the original system, but with better take up.

I actively use the current system, and really try to maximise it in the birthday month. I recall P1 even gets a slightly higher earn on top again, so it's a shame to see it go.

You mean the Rockpool system? :)

Or go back to the original system, where the machine was always broken?

I mean expand the Rockpool system to include more than just that awful chain. It's not like they're the only chain that user the barcode, as I believe Hoyts also allows members to swipe their card for movie tickets in person, it's just the hassle of convincing restaurants to get on board.

There's an Indian restaurant nearby that I still refuse to go to thanks to version 1, but a family friend swears they're lovely people, despite always finding a way to screw me on the tiniest amount of points all those years ago :p

that's exactly what i sent them on their twitter page the minute I received the email about this ... " MORE PROFIT ... SCREW LOYALITY CUSTOMERS "

Dammit my joke ruined by a typo. Yep dimmick!

Btw, I heard Dimmi wasn't happy and gave QF the boot.

For the same reason the previous Qantas restaurants program was terminated? Qantas charging way too much for the frequent flyer points granted thus eating into the restauranteur/Dimmi's margins, without driving any noticeable increase in restaurant traffic?

I hear all sorts of crazy rumours through my network.

From what I hear - let's put it in the same bin as Optus

However, I doubt it's about the cost per point. The point cost is largely irrelevant in these deals. It's always about the details - marketing commitments, digital assets, customer profiles, data sharing - and the greater vision both entities are working toward.
