BMW to offer ride hailing services in China from December

Germany's BMW plans to launch ride-hailing services in China in December, the first global automaker to obtain such a licence in the fast-growing market.

Interesting that car manufacturers are starting to get more and more involved in things that typically have been more generic, similar seems to be happening with autonomous cars too. It makes sense in a way but commercially is it really something they want to be running as a service?

It makes sense when I think about it. We are moving towards autonomous driverless car 'taxis', so who is going to buy one?Uber themselves are developing their own car, not buy someone elses. So the major car manufactures need to be looking ahead to going down this path too.
