Hi everyone I’ve been a member for a few years butfirst time post. Hoping for some feedback on experiences. We’ve (2 of us) booked round the world business through Lufthansa and starts with BNE to LAX on QF (Dreamliner). We’ve got a mix of other carriers through Europe and on the way back via Thailand. Love to know what others have experienced (good and not so good) for the QF leg to LAX?

Thanks Mattg I’ll take a peak at those threads much appreciated.
We picked up the flights at $6595 each through a contact at Helloworld Travel. We are doing the following sectors;
BNE-LAX (QF)
LAX-MCO (United)
MCO-FCO (Rome via Frankfurt Lufthansa)
LHR-BKK (via Zurich Swissair)
BKK-BNE (Thai)

There are a couple of flights not inc (Rome to Lon etc) that helped keep the ticket price down, but I was happy as the One World equivalent was double the price.

Appreciate yours and anyone else’s input

Really?

There's been an AY J RTW available for some time now, I managed to get the following itinerary:

MEL-SYD-DFW-JFK-HEL-LHR-HEL-HKG-SIN-MEL for $6133 via the delightful Alicia Clark.

MCO might have been an issue but - depending on the time of year - MIA could possibly have been an option.

BD1959 Yes the One World price was more than $13k each.

We also wanted some specific locations and we wanted other locations where we hadn't been before.

Well done on your price as well it's another terrific one by the looks of it. We are still happy as the number and types of sectors is likely to have tweaked the price north?

Enjoy your trip at the end of the day, that's what we all want.

Appreciate the responses so far everyone, anyone done the specific BNE to LAX on QF flight in business?

Welcome to posting to AFF :)

Comment on fares - remember the Oneworld explorer type fares offer a lot more flexability specially within continents like the US and Europe whereas (very good) fares like the LH/LX RTW and the AY RTW fare do not. I find both the LH type fares (which have been around in one form or another for years and years) and the AY fares (ditto) to be very very good value and can really work well depending on destination needs. :)

Now, regarding the experience of QF J in the 789 BNE-LAX? It should be pretty nice. The J suites are really quite good and compare well with current industry standards (QR QSuite aside). Certainly far better than UA and almost certainly LH on the transatlantic routes. Servcice should be decent too for the length of flight specially daytime departure ex BNE. The brekky may be a bit spotty coming into LAX, but they're not horrible (and again compare very well against similar I've had on UA).

I'd say flying back home via BKK the TG J seat on the 744 will be poor/older style but if it's a 380 it should be quite decent, with very good service and BKK-BNE, I think is on the A350? Will be the latest product and very comfortable for that length flight with decent F&B. Be warned though that TG do like to swap a/c at almost zero notice, and happens lots with varying 777 configs :)

I hpe you enjoy your trip :)

Thanks RichardMEL appreciate the input.

Scheduled planes for the long-hauls are
QF (787-9) (Fare I)
LH (747-400) (P)
LX (777-300) (P)
TG (787-8) (Z)
Your right about the flex of other ticket types as well, we are broadly on a month long trip and have some set items in our itinerary so the ticket suits nicely.
Although I am a very frequent flyer it's almost exclusively domestic, so a decent seat and a comfortable level of service is always a nice bonus.

The LX 77W should be pretty nice as their newest product. I got a bit excited seeing P class thinking it might have been a seat in F, but that's a discounted J code alas. Still, would be very nice for a long haul!

The fare you showed is 2 x DONE4 (base price ex. Aus is $11999. A full 16-sector DONEx is a somewhat different beast, as far I am aware, from the AY ‘mini’ RTW deal.

Just had a change in our itinerary for this trip in September. The LAX to MCO leg was cancelled by UA and they wanted to put us on a later flight and with a stopover in Washington. We weren't happy with that and our travel Agent thankfully managed to get us on the earlier direct flight. That means we don't get to now see some relatives in LA and stay at LAX for 4.30 hours. Question I now have after getting very confused looking at several 'other' forums online. You've probably guessed it, do we get UA lounge access in LAX (it's a Lufthansa codeshare)? I am always sceptical with US lounge access rules changing as often as a staffer at the White house these days. As ever appreciate your wisdom everyone.
