I've received a bid now offer for a domestic flight on Wednesday. When they sent the reminder email I decided to make an offer. It does say that 12-24 hours before the flight, they'll let us know. I was just wondering when it typically happens if successful. I'm only Bronze, but I have 2 QC passes from my credit card.

If our upgrade is successful (which I imagine is possible, considering they sent a reminder email) I'll use the QC passes on the forward journey. But we'll have an extended wait at Sydney Airport on the return. If our upgrade bid isn't successful, I'd rather use the passes there.

Edit: Clarified that this is a domestic flight

Have a look to see if there are slots in J for a paid revenue tix for your flight.
It then gives you an idea at this point what chances are.
330 or 737 also makes a difference.
I had put in a request for a VA flight but not successful.
Hard to say though unless its a points upgrade on booking rather than a bid days before flight.
Best of luck though, new MEL J lounge taking over MEL QP.

Thanks. It's showing at least 2 revenue seats available in J. It's also showing revenue seats in Y, and there are 10 seats unallocated. It's showing no reward seats in Y or J

I just went to check in for my trip down tomorrow. (I'm travelling between Brisbane and Sydney) and online check-in isn't available. It's just a case of wait and see now. There wasn't an invitation to upgrade the first flight and check-in hasn't opened for the return one.

Higher status pax can still do an in lounge upgrade request but with only 2 rev seats esp if a 737, chances not good.
I haven't checked if the plane is a 330.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks. It’s a 737. It’s not that big a deal really. Brisbane to Sydney is only a short flight anyway. Even without going overboard and arriving ridiculously early for my flight, I’d likely spend more time in the lounge than in the air anyway. :)

If it's a 737 it's really not worth it IMHO, maybe if you want to experience the business class lounge perhaps bid the minimum points and cash?
They would let you know 24-12 hrs prior if it's successful via email.
