Gave up on SIA 4 years ago, switched to Asia Miles and CX flights because easier to transfer Amex FF points and redeem BC seats.
Have since bought a number of BC seats MEL-LHR, MEL-XMN and RTW for CX/Dragonair flights.
Now still have 170,000 Asia Miles points but they no longer offer any redeemable seats out of MEL.
Tried a MEl-LHR booking.
No matter what destination or date I enter, peak or off peak, there is nothing in 2019 and not even 10 days ahead in Dec 2018. Looks like an airline desperate to make every seat earn hard cash, at the expense of FF loyalty. This does not look like a good time for anyone to be accruing FF points with Asia Miles or CX flights. Always enjoyed flying with them, just hope they can get out of the situation.
The good news is SIA have lots of redeemable seats and I had no trouble using Amex FF points booking MEL-MAN return August 2019. I could have made MEL-LHR for August but not quite the ideal return date in September. No problem, MAN suits me fine.
