Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Plenty of delays and diversions as a result of terrible weather in Melbourne.
QF80 NRT-MEL was diverted to Sydney, just left Syd at 11 05 and is scheduled to arrive at 12 30, 350 min late.
QF154 AKL-MEL has been cancelled
QF775 MEL-PER left 8 15, due to arrive 47 min late at 9 02am.
QF2051 MEL-DPO left 11 01 (171 min late), due to weather conditions, due to arrive 11 54, meaning it will be 159 late.

Stay tuned, weather is Melbourne is not easing and I would assume that we will see plenty of delays.

On Sunday 11 November 2018 - the day to remember - QF36 arrived in MEL at 0614 hours ex SIN, only 14 late.

However the A388 did not form QF93, the 1055 hours MEL - LAX. Instead, the latter was formed by VH-OQL that had arrived 37 minutes late late on QF94 at 1027.

As a result QF93 did not commence pushback until 1230 hours. Scheduled arrival at LAX of 0625 hours same day has ballooned to an estimated time of 0805. In turn this is highly likely to delay the transcontinental B789, QF11 across to JFK.

I haven't checked back over the last couple of months but it is unusual for QF36 not to form Qf93, so perhaps that inbound Airbus A380 had a defect. QF35, the 1220 hours MEL to SIN is showing as departing at 1320 with arrival in the Lion City at a projected 1800 hours.

UPDATE: QF35 departed at 1325 with estimated SIN arrival becoming 1758 hours, 53 minutes late. As the redeye QF36 is not scheduled to depart until 1940 tonight, in theory it ought not suffer any delays from the late northbound.

After diverting to DRW on Thursday 8 November on QF19, A333 VH-QPH was naturally about three hours late arriving back in SYD on the ex-MNL QF20. From 9 November morning, it did not operate a flight again today when it is on QF129, the scheduled 1055 hours SYD up to PVG that did not take off until 1242 this afternoon (11 November 2018). Arrival is suggested as 1941 hours this evening, 71 late, so the redeye back down to SYD, QF130 will be delayed.

B738 VH-VZC on QF444, the mid afternoon Sunday 11 November 1530 hours MEL up to SYD, QF444, did not depart until 1617, with take off aT 1635. Arroval is predicted as 52 late at 1747 hours.

The following QF446, the 1600 hours is MEL is showing as delayed in departure until 1645 but that was almost 20 minutes ago.

Opposite number QF443, the 1500 hours from SYD south to MEL has VH-VYB and should arrive 31 late at 1706 hours.

The MEL - CBR QF818 (Vh-VXF) is arriving 33 late at 1708 hours.

Also on 12 November, A332 Vh-EBM on QF574 from PER across to SYD should be at its designated arrival gate at roughly 1335, 40 minutes behind time.

QF1557 (1220 hours lunchtime SYD - ADL) was airborne at 1315 with B717 VH-YQV. Arrival looks to be 1442 hours, 47 late.

QF11 posted a 30 min delay when I left the LAX QF F lounge for AA2. Waiting for late QF93
It landed at JFK 2 flights behind AA2 at 1715.
QF12 delayed to 1840 as I was heading to baggage claim.

Himeno, do you mean QF93 landed at '0715' not '1715'?

No.
11 landed JFK at 1715.
Don't know when 93 landed LAX.
Pax waiting for QF11 bags (same belt as AA2) said they were delayed due 93 being late.

I did see a QF A380 being towed out of TBIT as AA2 headed for the runway

On Tuesday 13 November 2018, QF29, the 0935 hours morning flight from MEL up to HKG departed 112 late with arrival suggested as 1802 in the early evening, 107 late. Aircraft is A333 VH-QPD.

QF812 (B738 VH-XZK, the 1250 hours MEL short hop to CBR) took off at 1337 with predicted arrival 1429 hours, 34 late.

Monday 12 saw QF12, the delayed 1800 hours JFK across to LAX departing 47 late with arrival likely at 2135, 40 down.

Also on Tuesday 13 November, QF27, the scheduled 1250 hours longhaul B744 from SYD to SCL was showing as punctual.

However it departed 63 late with expected arrival in Chile at 1211, 61 late. Taskmaster is VH-OJS.

In further on 13 November 2018, QF2286, the 1700 hours LST - MEL was in the sky at 1730, roughly 15 to 20 late but is arriving at 1850, 35 late. Aircraft is Q400 VH-QOJ.

QF1517 (1655 hours SYD down to CBR, B717 VH-YQU) did not take off until 1820 hours, so arrival is a predicted 1858, 68 late.

With Wednesday 14 November seeing fog in MEL and low visibility procedures operating (thank you AviatorInsight), QF405, the 0630 hours SYD down to MEL took off at 0733 with A332 VH-EBC and should arrive at 0843, 38 minutes late.

QF403, the 0645 hours on the same southbound route has B738 VH-VZA. It did not become airborne until 0753, and should be at its arrival gate at about 0916 hours, 56 late.

Opposite number, QF402 (VH-VXJ) is the 0745 hours MEL - SYD that was in the sky at 0824. Arrival is forecast for 0943 hours, 33 late.

The 0715 hours SYD - MEL, QF407 (VH-VZE) was in the sky at 0817, about 45 - 50 late so expect it to arrive at roughly 0940, 50 minutes tardy.

QF411 (0730 hours SYD down to MEL) pointed skywards at 0824 with arrival of A332 VH-EBV likely at 0949 hours, 44 minutes past the allotted.

The 0605 hours ADL across to MEL, QF670 had B738 VH-XZK and arrived at 0835 hours, 40 minutes behind the timetable.

Northbound QF412 (B738 VH-XZP), the 0730 hours MEL up to SYD was at 0832 still queueing for takeoff so it is likely to be 40 minutes late. QF is showing an expected at gate arrival of 0928, 33 late but unfortunately that is not possible. This flight is one of many that passengers from MEL use to connect to midmorning QFi departures ex SYD, so this may lead to some delays for the latter.

While it is midweek and hence generally not as busy as say a Monday morning or Friday afternoon, some of these delays will be difficult to quickly recovery from, so by early this afternoon given MEL importance to the national network there may still be some delays.

Another reason why we need high speed trains (far more reliable) connecting our major east coast cities.

Continuing with what has been a foggy Wednesday 14 November morning in MEL, QF814 (B738 VH-VZA, the 0900 hours MEL - CBR) took off at 1007 with arrival likely at 1057, 52 late.

14 November's QF1419 on the troublesome, timekeeping wise, short SYD down to CBR route is the 1200 'high noon' departure that was in the sky at 1302. Arrival should be 1340 hours, 45 late.

Probably due to late connecting (fogbound) flights ex MEL, QF23, the 1030 hours midmorning SYD - BKK departed at 1106 with arrival suggested as 1641, 31 late.

'The 79' from MEL to NRT pushed back at 0947, 27 late for a projected arrival at 1817, 37 minutes behind the timetable.

QF51, at present the 1150 hours BNE - SIN has good timekeeping most days but was off blocks at 1236 so arrival has been put back to a suggested 1845, 50 minutes down.

The 1225 hours SYD - MNL is expected to depart at 1450, 145 minutes tardy with arrival at 2000 tonight, 150 minutes late. This will delay QF20, the redeye back down to SYD.

In more on 14 November, the LST up to MEL QF2284 with Q400 VH-QOJ is arriving at gate at 1520, half an hour behind the timetable.

Badly delayed QF19 departed SYD at 1505, 160 late so QF20 is unlikely to depart before 2135 tonight from MNL.

Due to QF19's 2006 hours arrival in MNL on Wednesday 14 November (156 late) and consequent late QF20, QF33 on Thursday 15 - the 0930 hours SYD - KIX - may be tardy pushing back. However, QF at times can shuffle A332s/A333s around so things may change. A333 VH-QPF is the aircraft for 19 and 20.

UPDATE: QF20 arrived in SYD on Thursday 15 at 0830, 140 late but the delay to QF33 was kept to a minimum with departure at 1001, 31 late meaning projected KIX arrival 17 minutes late tonight.

Thursday 15 November finds QF1516 from CBR up to SYD (B717 VH-YQV) suggested as arriving at 1128, 38 minutes tardy.

QF35 (1220 hours lunchtime MEL up to SIN) departed 20 late but is estimated to lose time, arriving at 1735, half an hour behind the timetable.
