Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

What a wine. Starts off brooding & somewhat stand-offish, although leaves no doubt about the quality. A little air, a little time and it keeps revealing new details. It's a big one, although a little mind boggling the way it handles itself with such finesse. Think; a brickie in a tutu gracefully nailing Swan Lake. Looking forward to seeing where this goes on day 2, presuming it makes it...

I'm trying hard to imagine the brickie in the tutu...:eek: - let alone her (;):D) nailing Swan Lake :cool:.

Must use that as a descriptor next heavy red tasting...;):D:D.

I had a 15 Theorem over 3 days. Each day it got better. They are incredible wines, built for the ages, but with some serious aeration, drink beautifully early.

In my opinion (and this is a big, qualified claim), the best of Standish are as good as Hill of Grace and any other single vineyard icon wine in Aus you can name (noting, not all Standish from yesteryear are at that level).

Enjoy the remains of the bottle, WM. Cheers, Wozza

Took one out of my 3 pack for the last weekend, trying different wines to pick something out for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

I have to say it is a pain to take the cork out with a traditional waiters friend, anyway, had the last glass with dinner tonight. This is a wine Fraser(winemaker) suggested to drink early rather than late to take advantage of the fresh fruit,if this is a early drinking wine then this is a very high quality short term wine.

Very closed at first, light red fruit and spicy nose, not sure why it’s a bit earthy like McLaren vale/hunter Shiraz , overall a long finish. Tonight is a bit sweeter , the earthy, wood , jammy flavour makes the wine a balance drink. This should be drinking well in another 5 years.

We had more than you think, don’t forget the aperitif :)
What was he Black Shiraz like? There has been a lot of negativity on TWF of late with the current disgorge..... I haven’t had that many but have always enjoyed them.

I had this Tassie Chardonnay yesterday- I was very impressed

The bottle opened last night was 2017 vintage, definitely no isuues with that one. Didn’t touch my 2018s yet.

Glad to hear you liked the D&J. I’ve ordered their Pinot once and they’ve accidentally sent me Chardonnay. I’ve cancelled the order, got refund but they never bothered to collect their wine back. Guess I’ll have to drink it eventually ;)
