New Amex statement credits

Sydneysider here unfortunately! But, for those who work in the CBD (I'm around Martin Place) the following list may be useful:

- Society Convenience Convenience Store (Philip Street)
- Allied Mart (Pitt St)
- MLC Newsagent
- Lucky Charm (Centrepoint)
- Lucky Charm (Galeries)

This run takes all of 30min :D

Oh sorry forgot it had different name in Victoria.
Used to live there for 7 years but had car so didn’t use their (terrible) public transportation. Now I need to use it from time to time, got the name - MyKi.

So which are the best places around CBD to top up MyKi?

Thanks for sharing Saltywings. Were you able to run through multiple cards in the one ‘session’ without any issues and did any merchant charge you a processing fee for using Amex for opal top up?

Good questions and I forgot to mention that. The Lucky Charms are the 'worst' in that they need the physical card (so they wouldn't accept phone-taps), and charge a 40c processing fee. The MLC centre charges a 60c processing fee, while the Allied Mart is fee-free.
I personally didn't mind the fees for obvious reasons, but if I ever chance on stores just as close/convenient, I'd change over to those.

Beware that there are two Allied Marts but only one of them is with Shop Small (weird huh). What's more confusing is that both are on Pitt St - look for the one that has the shop small sticker.

Last year, I prepaid a uear’s Worth of dry cleaning at l Martini dry cleaners (Barangaroo just underneat Amex building). I couldn’t find them in the guide this year. Are there any dry cleaners around Martin Place/Chifley Square area that other members have used? Going to try the prepaid dry cleaning again this year.

Ah, hadn't thought about this. Then again my local dry cleaner does 5 shirts for only $12 so I'm less inclined to 'waste' a shop small on that :p

Depending on how often you do get your shirts laundered and if they’ll let you store the credit from ‘pre-paying’ l, it might be a nice way to get a significant reduction over a period of time if you get my drift.

Stereotypical cash-only business run by Asians...

...probably not :p

Should you get the Shop Small credits when using Google Pay (I believe it actually uses a different card number, but not disclosed in full to end user)

Can confirm it still triggers - I made a Deliveroo order just yesterday and paid via GPay. Got the $10 off / email notification as per usual.

I'm pretty happy with amex this year. The flight centre deal has saved me $2.5k off my club med booking and today's under armour with the click frenzy and shopback cashback has me buying over $1000RRP of clothing/shoes/sports bag at around $180.

Haven't finished with the shop small yet, but the chatswood chase gift cards are pretty good if anyone is in the area.
