New Star Alliance flyer

Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I've recently moved to Canada and will be doing a lot of Air Canada flying with my new role - domestically and to the US and Europe. I'm normally a QF flyer due to work policies at my Australian job (only silver and QP though), so don't have a membership with Star Alliance.
Trying to figure out what the best program is to join, preferably to get to gold status.
From reading other threads etc, it seems that Asiana may be the way to go, but is there anyone that would status match my QF Silver to get me there faster?

It won't stop you joining another scheme now, but keep an eye on Air Canada as it absorbs aeroplan. It may turn out a better scheme than it used to be, although it was good at the upper 2 tiers ( equiv of Plat and P1)

Maybe United might work for you. and they currently have a status match program on.

I just looked at the United plan, but looks like I'd have to do some flights on United, which isn't going to happen

I recently used the United status match to get Star Alliance Gold based on my current Qantas gold status. I also completed the challenge (yes, you have to fly on United....) and now have United Gold until January 2020. It worked well for me. But if you only have QF silver currently, that will only match to UA silver... which doesn't get you very much.

Definitely have a look at Asiana Club if your main goal is easy status. Here's some info: Asiana Club is the Most Underrated Star Alliance Program

Just a quick note about a recent change to Asiana Club, the requalification requirements were recently changed and it's now even easier to maintain status oneo you have it. Diamond (which is *G) requires just 30,000 miles over two years to maintain it. You can also earn 10,000 through a linked card instead of flying, of you're able to get a linked credit card in your country.
