Why so many online media make clickbait of travel news?

On news.com.au today there is an article in travel section. Headline reads: “The $3 Kmart item that will save your trip”
And bi-line reads:
“There’s one cheap item that could mean the difference between an uneventful flight and a long haul where everyone is looking for a parachute”

You have to click into article to read more. And then find out the amazing item is...... an eye mask. o_O

Thanks newscorp for amazing travel hack. Big waste of time.

Cross out the word travel and you would be even more accurate. So much “news” that appears on media outlet websites is indeed click bait.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

There is some reasons why I no longer visit nonews... and you won't believe reason number 7... :)

Totally agree with the OP. Escape (also run by News Limited... or should I say Limited News) is the worst at this. Their "travel" articles are pure clickbait, and are neither informative nor interesting IMHO.

Let's take a few of the headlines currently featured on their home page as an example, and compare them to what the article is actually about...
  • "This Secret Code Could Change Flying Forever" - VA is offering extra assistance to nervous flyers
  • "Huge Change For Qantas Flights" - QF passengers using a mobile boarding pass no longer get a printed receipt at the gate
  • "My Carry-On Rule Gets Me The Best Seat On The Plane" - don't sit in the front row because then you have to store your bag in the overhead locker

This is what happens when you tell people that blog that they can be journalists.

Possibly because so many people like the OP click on things that are so obviously click bait.

I’m not gullible sucker, I assume it was some bullsh*t but I wanted to see product.

I should not be one to blame for clicking, person who wrote “article” should be blame.
