Planning to have 5 weeks in SIN for my training visit to NUS. 4 weeks on my own and 1 week with my wife visiting. Best to book a hotel or serviced apartment? Which one is more coast effective? Budget around A$1000 per week.

Prefer to stay either near Bunea Vista or the city near MRT station for easy travel to the NUS.

Any suggestion would be very helpful.

Sorry I cant help directly with suggestions, but bear in mind you could stay in one for the 4 weeks (even if it’s in two lots) and the week your wife visits stay somewhere else (?better).

I’m sure if you split your own stay in two, you can always store your baggage at the hotel whilst you’re at the other one (ie. only having to transfer some of your luggage).

When? And do you have any previous loyalty to a hotel chain?

For stays of weeks I’d be going for the flexibility of an apartment. At least you can start the day with a decent breakfast. Also, definitely choose a hotel rewards scheme and look for one of their hotels/apartments that suit you. Or, find the hotel and then join. You can search TripAdvisor for suggestions, ask advice in the SIN forum.

Even if there's an apartment close by with no affiliation, hotel.com has a pretty good reward scheme for those who aren't loyal to a brand.

No idea what apartments cost in Singapore, but $1k/week won't for very far with hotels. I think I'd struggle to stay in a 5* hotel room that wasn't a suite for that period of time, let alone a poky 3* room. So definitely a serviced apartment would be my choice.

Serviced Apartment is your best option , I think it would be a bit of battle to find a decent Hotel for $1000 a week
If you want to treat your Wife get a weekend deal at the Intercontinental at Bugis Junction
Just a hint Changi Airport has a great food hall that locals use , its in terminal 3 just outside Arrivals eg Marsala Dosa for $3
For an economical Breakfast there are many Kaya Toast outlets and you can eat for well under $5

We have stayed in the Aloccasia serviced apts several times and love it. It is large for Singapore and next to Stevens MRT. It has a nice warm outdoor pool, a supermarket in the same complex and friendly management.

We will be back there in 8 days on our way home to Perth from Portugal. I think it is about $180 Sing per night & worth every cent.

Cheers
