i am looking at booking J flights for MEL- BKK later this month. all the options show involve catching 3 flights to get there? Does anyone know if calling gets one direct /lesser flight options , or is it same as booking online?

For e.g the best option i can see is as below:

Flight QF 464
40K

QF 464

7:30 PM
MEL

8:55 PM
SYD

MH 140

10:15 PM
SYD

3:50 AM
KUL

MH 780THU NOV 1

Flight Details

6:05 PM
KUL

7:10 PM
BKK

If I book this option will my bags be checked through all the way in MEL with me just having to clear immi in Syd? or do i have to collect my bags in Syd and re-check in ? With the short time frame that might be difficult.
Any advice would be approciated.
thanks

Not sure regarding baggage but that's one heck of a trip to get from MEL to BKK. I would try SQ or Thai or just take Jetstar Business.

The only shorter option is with QF23, SYD-BKK and I've never seen any J award availability on that flight.

Yes, but not bookable with AA miles.:)

What about same day service QF (to SIN)->MH(SIN-KUL)->RJ(KUL-BKK)?

Oh, and yes, your bags will be checked all the way through, so no need to collect until you arrive in BKK.

Ah yes, I should mention to book using one of the many Star Alliance programs.

You can get lucky booking QF23 with AA.I once was able to snag a J AA award on that flight when mrsdrron couldn't get one as a WP.I was booking as part of a complicated award booking and had to ring.Quite surprised when the agent came up with the J seat on QF23.
The problem is most of the awards have gone to QFF flyers before you can book through AA.
