Hi All -

Does anyone know a trick to booking flights from Japan to Hong Kong on legacy carriers (Basically not hong kong express, hong kong airlines, the Chinese airlines etc.) at a moderate price?

All the one way flight early Feb seems to be $600-700 on way on Cathay and even more on the Japanese carriers.

Thx.

In these instances I usually look for a fifth-freeedom flight.

Air India has a direct flight from Osaka to Hong Kong which is very reasonably priced.

If you can reposition to OKA on ANA/JAL, CX/KA have direct OKA-HKG flights for around $450.

Alternatively - if the aim is simply to avoid a cheap Chinese carrier - Jetstar Japan have NRT-HKG flights at ~$280 for some dates in Feb.
