Hi

Just been notified by NZ of aircraft change fro 28th Dec Flight to Christchurch. Will be Boeing 777-200 manned by NZ flight crew and leased from the Boeing Group. I have been upgraded to Business lie flat seat as no premium economy on the new aircraft. This is good right?

Same deal flying back on on the 19th Jan. So must affect all the flights in this period.

Sounds like a win to me.

NZ has been making aircraft changes left, right and centre lately due to some ongoing issues with their Boeing 787 fleet.

Will relate to the 787 issues and be an aircraft substitution. Lay flat J is a win.

Without wishing to give them ideas, i'm surprised they havent intermittently used a 320 on this route with a tech stop in eg. MEL/HBA etc.

Pay for PE and get business class? Definitely a win.

I on the other hand I bought PE over, now switched out to a NZ 772 instead of the 789 (wanted +1 to experience PE on the 789). The return flight we bought economy as I wanted to try out the sky couch on a day flight medium haul to decide whether it's something we would use on a long haul red eye. Alas that is not even an option with one of the SQ leased birds now stepping in.

I was going to put the flight into credit (offered by NZ if you don't want to fly the subs, no reissue fee either), and buy Qantas economy on the 789 and select PE seats from PER-MEL then request a points upgrade on the MEL-AKL red eye which has been an A330 since the March schedule changes but I see that's been swapped out for a 737! (And the day after is the same.) There is no reward seat availability either so I'm scratching my head at the moment as to what the best options are. NZ upgrades unlikely to clear just looking at Expertflyer. We may have to just suck this one up!

Perth usually gets hit with the subs. I think because there are back ups on that route.

Anyway.....:(

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
