Hi all Myself my wife and 12 year old son are going to spend 6 weeks in sep/oct2019 travelling through Germany, Amsterdam & Paris In Germany we will mainly be in Berlin & Hamberg
Looking at Hotels the price seems to jump when you ad a 12 year old child
Any advise and recommendations would be greatly appreciated, should I take out a hotel membership, Would like to keep the cost to around $200 a night and would like it to be well located

Thanks

Clive

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I had a similar issue when I started including my infant daughter. Where a hotel was available for 2 adults it was not available or more expensive for 2 adults and an infant which makes no sense so I stopped including my daughter in the search.

Also note the majority of hotels allow one child up to 12 years old to stay for free if using existing bedding with many hotels increasing this to 2 children up to 12 years old to stay for free if using existing bedding.

You may find this could be because a 12 year old is considered an adult in these circumstances? So it is effectively a booking for 3 adults.

Can recommend this place in Paris:

We stayed at the St Honore location in april and it was great. Great little serviced appartment on a good location close to the Louvre. The couch folded out into a bed for NoName Jnr which was perfect. Can’t recall the exact cost (might be on my European Vacation trip report thread) but was quite reasonable.

Looks lovely, how did you find it (specific website like AirBnB?)

thanks

Hey Hi I stayed in Hilton Hotel in Berlin Gendarmenmarkt great place an central. However I had the same problem price would shoot up. Quickly learned that I would book for two and then when at the front counter ask for extra roll-away. They would come in set up the bed and it would sometimes only cost nil extra but more frequently it would 20-50 Euro extra and it included towels and breakfast. ( if we took the brekkie option) I recommend the brekkie option in Berlin.
