Why can't I make a seat selection?

I am flying on QF772 tomorrow. I purchased a fully flex fare and applied for a points upgrade to Business. I chose an Economy seat and when I looked this evening my seat had become available again. However, I have not been upgraded even though there are two vacant Business seats. Now the whole Economy graph is unavailable on both the QF website and also ExpertFlyer.
What is going on?

Something is currently broken. We can’t reserve a seat for this Thursday. Similarly we applied for an upgrade for this flight but not granted as yet.
 
Not sure if related problem but I was trying to change a seat on an upcoming QFi flight yesterday and it kept 'crashing' at the 'confirm' stage - got a 'generic error'.

Just tried again - still happening.

That’s the same error we have had for last few days.
 
I have just received a email from Qantas about the IFE not working. Still no joy with seat selection. It will be a great surprise if I don't end up flying Y.

Just a quick follow-up. I had tried to check my seat before I left home but no luck still. I had to check-in at the airport as I was carrying a battery. The customer service assistant printed my boarding pass and lo and behold "7K". I was very pleased.
