Cathay Pacific and Qantas codeshare to bring Australia and Asia closer

Qantas will add its code to Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon’s services within Asia from Hong Kong to 10 cities across India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, and on Cathay Pacific’s services from Hong Kong to Perth and Cairns.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members will be able to earn more Qantas Points and status credits when travelling on the Qantas-coded flights.

Interesting news, particularly the India codeshares - I'd definitely prefer CX metal with a stop in HKG over 9W metal with a stop in SIN. Good news for those in PER and CNS also.

Bookings available for sale from October 22 2018 for travel from October 28.

Heh, and here we were saying that MH is the pits.
This one is a good one for those not constrained by $ but who live in PER, having to go via SIN on the 737 to get to Asia.
Now that CX is going to provide more QFF points and QF SC, this is the one to go for.
Was looking at prices/fares, on the other post, one member said it was Aud$2000 to get from PER to Japan, I did a look see, while CX is at Aud$3700, yes, I know, a lot more expensive, but it now give more QFF points and most importantly, the full QF SC.
Saw the AusBT article, but Sbor90 beat me to it.

For what it's worth, that MH fare (PER-xKUL-TYO) is part of the Explore Asia sale which ends today. It's also $2.6k, not $2k.

I am not sure the CX pricing is indicative of what QF will be charging for the codeshare.

Good way for QF to "service" PER and CNS residents without adding own metal / increasing metal size. Surprised they didn't add ADL as well although perhaps seen to be (isnt) not as big a backtrack to do ADL-MEL or ADL-SYD than from PER or CNS.

It's good for QFF and MPC members to see a slight thaw in the QF/CX relationship. HKG is my stopover of choice between Aus and Europe anyway but this may have an effect on my flights to India for which I normally use MH (as a P1 can only earn 900 'real' non QF SCs then the MH SC issue isn't as much of a problem).

Actually QF now serves PER-SIN with A330. So definitely no need to get to Asia on 737 from PER, unless you want to fly MH.

According to AusBT, the A330 on PER-SIN would "remain on the roster until late October, although this could be extended closer to the date"

The codeshare agreement starts in late October - so I think QF will pull the A330 and utilise it elsewhere.

Seems to be in the timetable until end of March, when it reverts back to 2x daily 737.... for now.

I thought I had read somewhere it had already been extended? I can’t find the reference though to double check though before someone flames me ;)

PER - SIN still can be a 737 at the behest or deeming of QF.
I have tried the QF A330 in J, not bad.
A330 PER - SIN in Y is bearable.
Have tried the QF B737 in J and Y Au - NZ too, ...
A330 anytime is better in both classes.

Yesterday I booked to fly CX from Per-Hnd-Per in J for $4,030-00 for travel in the last week of October.

It will be interesting to see what is the additional cost, if any, for a QF code share.

The biggest benefit for me, if fares are the same, is getting the QF siggle for the Per-Hkg, towards the 4 QF flights each year, if I decided to chase Platinum again.

And with my WP wife being the major flyer in the family, and spending plenty of time flying to Asia from Perth, this benefit will make her requal so much easier.

ADL always gets the short straw :(

I was going to mention something about our poor brothers in SA, given that most in Perth suffer as much as you with a limited choice of flights compared with those on the golden triangle. This code share agreement will be most welcome.

<brokenRecord>At least you have a J lounge</brokenRecord>

Hope this means more CX award flights ex CNS too?

The CX fares ex CNS to HKG have been off the Richter scale or ages so will QF make any difference doubt it.

Check these Y fares out...

Sorry to ask this.

Just wanting to confirm, does this now mean that if you book via QF or CX, you'll receive the same SC/QFF points?
