Hi,

I was hoping someone could assist me with a question. I’ll be flying from SFO to Hong Kong on a Singapore Airlines flight. I’ll be flying premium economy and have velocity platinum membership. Does anyone know which lounge (if any) I can access. There seems to have been some changes recently and I’m only finding conflicting info. Thanks in advance

Not answering your question, however the Airline code for Singapore is SQ, SA is the Code for South African.

This is what it states, Platinum, travelling on SQ:
San Francisco, USA Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge Velocity Platinum membership 1

Thanks - my understanding is that they closed the KrisFlyer lounge in SFO and there is now a different lounge there - so I’m not sure if velocity platinum members still get access to this new lounge that’s not specifically a KrisFlyer lounge.

That is out of date. SQ no longer operates a SilverKris lounge at SFO, instead redirecting first/biz pax to United Polaris lounge and Y/Y+ pax with status to the United Club. This may mean VA status pax have no lounge access.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

thanks, perhaps if the OP identified the confusion I wouldn't have assumed such a simple answer.

Looks like you're out of luck OP!

Has anyone actually experienced this when flying from SFO? Thinking it might be worth shot at getting into one of the lounges anyway and just wondering if anyone has experience with this?

Cheers

I'd expect if they provide lounge voucher at check-in would be possible, if they don't then it would be difficult to persuade the lounge dragons. Be useful to hear some experience. I know on the other side, SQ golds cannot access any lounges when travelling on VA operated services where VA don't operate a lounge (such as at AKL).

Yeah, good idea - I’ll give that a crack before attempting to persuade the lounge dragons (lol). I’ll make sure I update the thread with the results.

Generally you only have access to Singapore Airlines-operated lounges as a VA gold/pat member. This means there are many places where lounge access is not available (WLG, ICN, etc.)

But good luck - you never know!

Surely there is an onus on VA to update their website with the correct information? I checked before booking the flight (I always book international business) but didn’t have enough points for business this time so paid cash for SQ premium economy - with the understanding I’d have access to their lounge.
