I'm a little late to this status match offer (and I haven't seen any post here regarding this) but if you are a medical practitioner verifiable via your registration with AHPRA then Virgin are offering gold and platinum status match as part of your (free) membership to businessfordoctors.com

Can you clarify how this works - i.e. what are they matching to? What decides whether it's Platinum or Gold? And is this a "pilot" program - e.g. initial validity for only 90 days or something?

Just for background I am not a medical doctor and I already have Velocity Platinum status, but I'm asking for a friend!

Well i just logged in and have been upgraded to platinum with a review date of Sept 2019!

My P1 card for the record show expiry Oct 2018 (although i have requalified until Oct 2019)

Sounds good. So just to be clear, it's a status match based on existing Qantas status? E.g. if you have Platinum or P1 with QF, they will give you Velocity Platinum, or if you have Gold with QF, they will give Velocity Gold? Do you know if the match is limited to existing Qantas status, or could you match to other programs instead?

Sorry, I don't know the details. But I imagine its to get business from Qantas primarily. Surprisingly (and quite generous in my opinion only), its a full year of status, unlike a status "challenge" which has been mentioned here on different threads.

Ok thanks. Yes definitely important that it's an actual match rather than a challenge.

I was really just asking what you have to send them to request the status match. I gather you sent them your QFF P1 card, but I'm guessing you were prompted to do this by info from businessfordoctors.com, which presumably said something like "Email the request along with evidence of your current Qantas status" or "evidence of your current status with any other airline"?
