Aiming for a start in august 2020.
The Antarctic cruises the first season are very different from most offerings.First they call them Arctic Splendor.but they go from Hobart to Christchurch or reverse. So a chance to land on the continent not just the peninsula and to see more Antarctic Bases and the Ross sea.

I’d love to do this. I’m waiting for Viking Expedition ships to go there in a few years time.

There are an awful lot of other things one can do for 22 days for less than $90k
But the cheapest suite on the Crystal is $US66K for 22 days but the slightly smaller deluxe verandah suite on the Cloud to Antarctica is $US60K for 15 days. That is Crystal is $US1K cheaper per day than SS + you have the helicopters-though obviously will be extra.
The price for the entry level suite on the Cloud is just over $US3K per day. This is for 2 pax.
And lots of people are already paying those prices.

lots of people are already paying those prices…….and receiving the kind of rubbish being dished out by Conrad… :).. that cannot last.

I seriously doubt the market research that must be driving these builds.
There may be a sea of bored , upwardly aspirational traditional cruise customers, but will enough pay enough ?
Times are good and America is again great (until Trump tanks..) but I stand by my initial comment.
Most of the world are flying long haul to get to little Hobart town, so that makes this cruise exercise even more challenging.

Actually SS cancelling our cruise has been a cloud(pardon the pun)with a silver lining-there I go again. The Explorer is actually dearer than the Cloud and these new ships. Most of the Antarctic cruises in 2019 for the Cloud,Explorer and Eclipse are close to being booked out.So people are paying the money.

Viking released a world trip and it was pretty much booked out within hours. Over $100k pp. Well over.
