I see Matt has resisted the urge to put the idea that the BAM is a "red rattler" to bed. The BAM is a former express train carriage, used on such august trains as the Newcastle Flyer, not on local suburban services in Sydney. Hence the beautiful interiors, although the bar is not original

Following with interest. Long time, fettler, track inspector, trainer, assessor among other track maintenance and construction things. Still work part time (contractor) but regularly, when I am not travelling OS, around Central, City Circle, Eveleigh yard, ESR mostly but all around the Sydney Trains network at times.

Would enjoy the privilege of a trip but if not would like to know a bit more and keep an eye out when you run around the system.

Hey, Matt - I've sent you a note re the list. I was so stoked to be on the Gosford trip... uber memorable, and the video of the loco pulling out of platform 1 at the end of the night was just magic.

Definitely interested. Had a good time on the last (I think) mostly on-time Canberra trip.

And it's definitely not a red rattler.
While it might rattle a little, it's a number of classes above in comfort.
