Gin!

There seems to be an anomaly with the points price at QF Wine for Four Pillars Modern Australian gin. 7.5k QFF Points a bottle is nominally over 1c a point
Oh I need to restock that one...
 
Make sure you try Patient Wolf — another Melbourne Gin, made in the inner north. Brilliant. Little harder to find but worth the hunt....
 
The other Gin we really enjoy is from Japan by Suntory. It's Roku Gin.
 
I need help in matching the gin with the tonic and the fruit. Are there any good "rule of thumb" approaches?

BTW, I have no problem disposing of either the gin or tonic, once paired! :cool:

I also agree that the Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz just needs ice. What others are best solo on the rocks?

I thought you were meant to match the gin with something similar to the botanical used in the gin. So Tanqueray gets citrus, Hendricks gets cucumber etc.
 
I usually check the website and see how they suggest serving it but I went to a few places in the UK last year that had gin tastings and they had some quite out there combinations of tonics and additions. So I guess the short answer is I don't know but would be happy to be educated more
 
Just discovered this app. People can add the tonics they have used and rate them. You can rate the gin as well. Where was this last year when I was travelling around and wanted to record all my gins. Now I'll have to go back through all my photos and notes and start adding them

Recently picked up a bottle of Husk ink gin.
Includes Butterfly Pea petals which gives it a dark blue colour in the bottle, but changes to pink with the addition of tonic.

I tried that in a bottle shop recently but they had warm flat tonic and it didn't inspire me. What did you think of it?
 
It's different.
Would describe it as a sweet floral taste, more floral than even say Tanq Ten

I like it but can see why others who prefer more classic herbs and spices may not.
 
Has anyone else tried The Salopian Inn in McLarenvale. Spectacular range of Gins and mighty fine food as well.
