HKG lounge crawl 10 June 2018

Anyone else noticed the availability of massage appointment is always 3-5hrs from the time you try to book? The lounge is pretty empty today and it’s still the same. Suspect some dodgy stuff going on there...

The last 3 times (in the last 3 months) I have been in the Pier F lounge the spa waiting time has always been a minimum of 3.5 to 4.5 hours. CX appear to be deliberately discouraging the utilisation of the service by simply not having it available. They do not even have the menu on the counter only the products list. They do not ask for any details so perhaps its pre-bookings only for CX passengers. On only one of the last 3 occasions that I visited was the lounge beyond moderately busy. Perhaps another cut back like the lounge food and the buffet.

I was stuck in the CX arrival lounge for over 1 hr as the CX check in at SGN refused to check my bags all the way through to Oz.
CX to QF? No need to go landside. You should have used the transfer desk for manual transfer of luggage, receive onward boarding pass and be in lounge much earlier.

Qf or CX transfer desk? I went to QF’s and was asked to go out to retrieve them.

The QF transfer desk along with other Oneworld airlines. Usually located at E1. Transferring luggage was one of the services provided.

Yep, that’s the one I went to and the person directed me to clear customs to collect the bags and recheck-in, despite telling him that the check in counter was closed at that time, probably because I haven’t got the QF boarding passes. Next time I’ll do a DWKWIA at both CX and QF. At SGN’s CX check in, I didn’t even have enough time summon the supervisor as the CX ground crew quickly tagged and moved my bag to the conveyor as she continued telling me she couldn’t do it. I have submitted feedback to CX.

An opportunity for my favourite TLA: HLO!

:D

So where to for 2019? Planning leave and flights should start soon.

With upgrades on the trip home @Fifa and I both submitted upgrade requests from Y+ to J last August. Her upgrade came through 48 hours before mine. Comparing date of requests in the lounge revealed she had submitted her request one day before me!

Very strange. The function of the transfer desk is to give you onward boarding passes and transfer luggage.

Mine came through at 3:13am on June 9 - so roughly T-41 hours.

I requested it the week before :)

As for the next crawl. I think I shall look forward to it - I won't be so late on my arrival to the airport though! :p

I have an upcoming trip to PER which will see me with 8.5 hours in HKG and then 16.5 hours in HKG. I'm thinking I can probably replicate this meet-up itinerary.... maybe on the 16.5 hour transit I'll head into town for the day.

For the record, here are the lounges we visited, with some of us getting to all of them.:oops:

CX Wing F
CX Wing J
QF
CX Deck
CX Bridge
CX Pier F
CS Pier J
Amex
EK

After further reading, I can do this but not the EK lounge. I can do the PP lounge, though.

Oh, this may be useful info to someone in future, the QF check in at the airport opens at 4pm during non daylight savings, unlike the 3 hour before first flight info on the QF website. Is it just Pier F that offers the appointments? Do you need to be flying J/F or any cabin is fine?

HI All,

So ... I just wanted to come back and close the loop.

I'm so sorry that I was unable to attend, and I'm so sorry I wasn't able to give notice (up until late May I was still thinking all was ok).

To give background, in late March I left my last job, and unfortunately getting into another role was taking some time.

Mid May, I was told I had a role in the UK, and was working out travel (via HK to do the lounge hop), however that was pulled due to a re-org very shortly after.

Obviously I was gutted, and at that stage being 3 months out of work I didn't really want to be hit with the expense of even a short HK hop and well, didn't really want to air everything whilst I was still looking.

Anyway, I'm so sorry again. I hope that it didn't cause any issues.

---

I've now secured another role (121 days of search).

Why not DXB ... plenty of lounges and like HKG plenty of exercise ...

Not too far from here, too. Although guess I'd have to fly QF (been a while!) or EK on QF code..... that way I can still earn BA miles & TP.

But a bit far from here.

SIN is limited with only 3 lounges if flying QF (QF, EK, BA)
BKK is a possibility - 4 lounges?
