Just checking chances of upgrades on QF25 to HND in a week or so. Also had a sticky beak at the return leg on Sunday 5th of August. HND to SYD
Almost all of economy is blocked. Why would that be blocked in such great numbers?
Thanks :)
This is as per seat alerts

The Qantas Japan flights often have Japanese school groups booked. With around 40 students per class and generally 2-3 classes per group...
(There is a reason 90% of my QF JP flights booked in Y or W end up with an opup to J)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sporting team or some other large group?
That reminds one of my other trips to Tokyo on the return leg we had a school. All students in full uniform.
Wasn't a whole plane full
Ooohhh a wonder if an operational upgrade to business lol
I don't usually request upgrades on return home flights

Lol I just wondered that
Ahh I can hope

My very first op up was on a NRT-SYD flight filled with school groups. It ruined me for Y travel forever.

Also, they're generally very well behaved so it's a quiet night trip home no matter what class you\re travelling in.
The school groups that usually take the long distance trips tend to be in high school - the last 3 years of formal education. Years 10-12 in Australian terms. In some cases, they are 3rd year Jr High classes (ie, Year 9). By that point, they are less likely to 'rock the boat'.

The younger classes tend to have domestic Shinkansen trips for their school trip.

Friends son baseball group is flying to Japan on Wed, theres about 40 of them and a big group of parents are on a different flight, leaving shortly after.
