Idea for AFF "I'm in the lounge" real-time ap. Please help IT gurus!

Hi all,

am sitting in a lounge at SYD international, there are pax everywhere, and I ponder if there are AFF members here. It got me thinking.

I am not the most technically minded, but in this day and age I think it is easy to create miracles. Or at least the IT guys can. (Those same ones we also complain about all the time )

It would be "nice" to have a more user-friendly, practical way, of bumping into fellow AFF members. I understand through my learning so far that so many many of us have never actually met each other, and this could be so much easier. I truly feel this is an unnecessary failing in our AFF community.

What I am conjuring in my mind is a "thing" ("ap" to all you young people) where we can simply click on a lounge (within a map of airports, lounges etc) IF we wish our location to be known, so that fellow AFF people can also see that we are there, and us them. With a simple chat function to enable saying hello to the other member and to enable to greet them in person (ie identify who they are in the crowd)

Does this make sense to anyone apart form me?

IT people, is such a thing easy to set up?

I think there was actually that functionality built into the AFF App. But it was a tad clunky.

Wouldn't it be easier just to watch out for whose asking after the Rockford decanter, or the free-pour rums?

Otherwise, I recall the method used by a Queensland supporter in Sydney after a State-of-Origin game many years back, trying to find other Qld supporters. He just went down the street (in a rather unsteady line, I must add), yelling out "Queenslander …" .

Just stand by the bar and yell out "Does anyone know who I am?"

Yes! Its another 'social media' app wanting to track me, see who I know, analyse my travel habits and then sell this data to third parties so they can advertise back to me.

It would be fun to have.
I have offered lounge access a couple of times without success. So not sure how to meet up with fellow AFFs ,notwithstanding the formalised meetups, in the lounge
Probable half at least of my travels are by myself as the other half still needs to work

What's wrong with "I'm in the lounge" threads on AFF? We've got Qantas, Virgin and SQ covered and think there's also Hilton and IHG covered.

Could be handy for misanthropes, so they know which lounges to avoid.
