Recently, I traveled on this new service, AA56 (upgraded 777), a few points.

I was in 16A, which was nice as it's got unlimited leg room. Seat was pretty decent, not hugely roomy width wise though. Recline wasn't great to be honest. The weird bit was placement of the headphones, at the back of the seat to the right. Hard to find until you realise the little arm rest lifts up to allow access.

Seatmate in 16B woke up twice and hit me with his arm (quite hard) then flicked me with blanket twice, waking me. So I got hardly any sleep - but thats not AAs fault.

The weird bit was on first drink service I was told by the attendant 'you know you are only supposed to have one of these right', in reference to a whisky. I was all...er no why would I know that?

On meal service I asked for another, he said you have to pay for it. I was dumb founded...premium cabin apparently! I had a wine instead - same as Y offering. The attendant was...rude at best. (prior I'd had the IFE out and a screw fell out of the housing, I made sure to the get the screw and give it to him, he was extremely strange about it and I think I saw him toss it out after).

Food, pretty average. Looked like econ food in a nicer plate. My dessert was clearly squashed and the attendant didn't seem phased. The service is done by the same attendants as Y, prior to the Y passengers.

Overall, would fly again only if I found it cheap. Cheap experience, slight upgrade on Y, vs a downgrade from business as I feel say Qantas or BA premium Y is. I then had a QR flight in Y that I had 30A for on A380, again unlimited leg room, unlimited gnt and better, tastier food. Also, way nicer staff. Enjoyed that flight way more.

So its 18.5" width vs 17.1" - 18.1" in econ.
38" pitch vs 31-32" in Y or main cabin extra 35-36".

Thanks for the report!

regarding drinks - I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be free - no matter how many or what sort you want. I'd send an email to AA requesting clarification. If Main Cabin Extra gets free unlimited spirits, the same should apply to PE.

Thats an interesting point. I couldn't find it anywhere on their website.

Airlines based in the USA often only have a small range (if any) of alcoholic drinks that you don't have to pay extra for, unless J+, don't they?

I have no idea. The point of my post is that it's a slight y upgrade not a j downgrade as I feel it is on other carriers I've flown it on. So i guess that's to be expected.

You were dudded ... many AA FA's don't read the memos. PE is a relatively new service.

When they said "... right", it was likely more of a query. It was your missed opportunity to affirm to the FA that you knew you could have more spirits.

Premium dining − Dining − American Airlines

Contrast that with:

Main Cabin food − Dining − American Airlines

If the flight offers a bar service then you can usually purchase whatever spirits are available in first. Non alcoholic beverages are free.

But main cabin extra (for example on Delta and AA), and premium economy (gradually being rolled out on several carriers)... drinks including spirits are supposed to be free. And unlimited (within the bounds of the responsible service of alcohol!)

It seems yes, I was jipped. See below email from as customer care. At least they responded I guess.

sorry that you experienced anything less than fantastic service from one of our flight attendants. Fifo, our goal for every employee is to provide friendly, courteous service. Clearly we let you down on your flight to London/Heathrow.

Currently, there are no restrictions on the number of complimentary alcoholic beverages for our Premium Economy Cabin. Please be assured I have made your comments available to the appropriate inflight management personnel for internal review.

Fifo, thank you for taking the time to contact us. Your comments will be used constructively to improve our service. The next time you travel with us, we will do our best to make sure that your trip is a good one.

Nada. That's the entire email. I thought it odd, a 50usd voucher or something I would have expected.

I'd ask for one ... or perhaps some AA miles?

Likewise. Poor customer service is one thing, an apology might suffice.

When one has paid for a product/service which hasn't been provided, compensation is warranted.
