I have flown a few sectors with CZ in recent years but have never been able to enrol online on the CZ website, mainly because the website insists on sending a confirmation code to a mobile number that you try to register with. The website seems to never send an SMS to a non Chinese mobile, even though one can select one's country from a drop down list.
When my wife myself were flying CZ from MEL recently, I saw enrolment forms on the check in counter so I took the opportunity for us both to enrol (now retired I envisage more cheap flights with Skyteam partners compared to APS work trips when I reached QF Gold for a few years).
The check-in guy was very helpful and enrolled us on the spot, even reprinting the boarding passes to show our new Sky Pearl membership numbers. It later turned out that he had our email addresses reversed and there was a typo in one email address.
When back in MEL I emailed CZ to try and rectify the situation and to obtain passwords for the website. Again trying to use the forgotten password link generates the SMS code that they can't send.
Their email response was "If it is incorrect,You should be bring your original and copy of passport and Sky Pear Club membership card or card number to the local office to handle the identity authentication and modify the email address"
It seems strange considering I could have scribbled any random email address on the original form. And hard lines if one is not close to a CZ office (there is one in Melbourne, at 6/342 Flinders St.

Perhaps the CZ website "issues" is the reason why, if one manages to successfully negotiate an online check in without throwing your laptop out the window, that the queue for the online check in counter for CZ flights at MEL is always very short. Few seemingly strive to finalise the check in process and select a seat!

Resetting the password does work easily if you download the app.
All other channels are not working for non Chinese phone numbers.
